Am I the only one to perceive Ron slamming GWB by his making a distinction between his father "not wearing his faith on his sleeve" and saying his dad did not "mistake" his survival of the assassination attempt as a "mandate" from God?
I am positive that is what he was getting at.
To: RummyChick
How did he take jab at his brother?"...though [my dad] never would have assumed a free pass to Heaven..."
vs.
Michael: "I know I will be there with you in Heaven and ... we will dance..."

He said that Pres. Reagan didn't wear his faith on his sleeve to score political points. Given his views, we can be reasonably sure who he was talking about.

What did he say exactly? Not an exact quote .. but something to the effect that his father didn't wear his religion on his sleeve like others that he can think of

WOW! Even Ron Jr. understands the gravity of the moment.
Yeah, perhaps the last years of RR gave him some discernment.

Ron and Patti did better than I personally had expected. I was sure they'd screw up majorly.

And now he let loose what I take as a couple of swipes at W. I think he took swipes at W. and Michael.

To: RummyChick
No, it wasn't just you. Two swipes (at GWB, I surmise):
- wearing faith on sleeve
- responsibility vs. mandate (from God)
Oh, well. The rest of the eulogists were awesome. And Ron P's earlobe story was cute.
To: txradioguy
Nancy was singing "The Star Spangled Banner." So moving.

I agree, I think it was a swipe at those who profess to be religious in life, but don't live their lives that way.
To: F16Fighter
Who is to say he wasn't swiping at Kerry?
