"We in the media failed the nation by not reporting these things about Reagan at the time.

"I have learned a lot about this side of Ronald Reagan...things I never new before. So I, too, have failed America."

[paraphrased]

More..

Bernard Shaw: "Can I say something that touches on a very sensitive issue? The news media, and how we failed to thoroughly cover and communicate the very essences we're talking about possessed by Ronald Reagan. What I've been reading and what I've been hearing, I did not get during his two terms in office. Or did I miss something?" Wolf Blitzer: "I think you're on to something, Bernie, uh.. "

Shaw: "I think we failed our viewers, listeners and readers to an appreciable extent. I can't quantify it, but I'll put it there. Because I certainly missed a lot."

Steve, what's the weather in hell today? Well, Brian, it now appears below zero and a thick sheet of ice has covered all of the brimstone pits.

cross post again.. I keep picking the wrong place :)

Even in her, I'd say nearly wise words, she's in denial. She implies that there are "new things coming out" about Reagan. She still doesn't get it. Millions of us real regular Americans get Reagan so profoundly and she doesn't and never did. She wants to, so I'll have compassion for that. But to say it's new info just coming out is to miss the whole point, still. Keep trying Judy!

Judy Woodruff: "Yeah, I just wanted to add, Wolf, uh, what Bernie said, I mean I think, triggers a reaction in all of us. I do think there's new material coming out now about Ronald Reagan.

Thereby implying that "Heavens to Betsy, we just didn't know! But now that we have all this "new material" we see the light!"

Hogwash. There is new material but a record number of voters didn't need it in order to understand and vote for what Judy and Bernie and Wolfie will never comprehend: Reagan was right. They were wrong.

If the media held out on the facts about one man, guess what they have been doing about everything else! Some people may finally wake up.

It's the way I felt when I graduated from college and did some reading of my own...other than recommended textbooks. It did not take long for me to see how they had short changed me...how dishonest they had been, how they had betrayed my trust. Academia stinks!

that Ronald Reagan would never have invaded Iraq, how George W. Bush is a neocon so completely different from his father and the Gipper.

His father invaded Iraq during Desert Storm. Just did not go all the way to Baghdad. Reagan invaded Lebanon, Grenada and bombed Libya. Clearly these leftists are living in denial of reality. 'They cant handle the truth'.

Don't worry about it Bernard --- as you can see by the thousands and thousands of mourners --- America found other news sources and disregarded or never heard what you had to say.

So what they're saying is, even though they're news people they can't recognize the facts as they are, only the facts as they WERE. Well boys, that ain't news reporting, that's history reporting. At any rate none of your revelations are news to us.

"...with the distance of years..."

What the hell is she talking about?

These people are journalists, they can go where the public cannot, journalists can access information immediately and on the spot, they can get information we cannot, they can reach millions with the 'story'. What were they doing when the man's life and administration was right under their noses?

I call this back pealing big time.

They are all just 'follow the leader' idiots and regular whores. Judy takes the cake!

You're not kidding. 'Reagonomics' was referred to only tangentially (and derisively, might I add) by my high school AP Econ teacher (a failed broker herself) as 'trickle down economics, because it's like p***ing on the poor.' Reagan wasn't covered at all in my AP Government or American History classes. And I went to one of the top private schools in New Jersey.

Mainly it is a failure to separate news from editorial comment. The news got through, so to that extent the media did its job. The editorializing was horrendous, that is, hair-raising.
