Anybody notice that Dan Quayle has started to raise his public profile?
Do you think he's looking at '08? He does have a Bush connection, after all.
Further, he LOOKS more statesman like these days.
As much as this Huntingtonian would like to see it,W took his turn.
I don't think so. I seriously think the "potatoe" thing would get him again. It's sad because he's such a smart and decent sort of guy, but I think it's true.
He's damaged goods, not a prayer. A GOP Mondale.
Dan Quayle could find the cure for cancer and the press would report:
"RETARD CURES DISEASE BY ACCIDENT"
I have been hearing he might run for Governor of Arizona in 2006. We shall see...
Perhaps Quayle has his eye on the prize. Though Giuliani would be my first guess.
Oh, good Lord. Quayle is done. He's not an elder statesman and will be another also-ran in 2008 if he runs again. The 2008 GOP nominee will be from this political generation (in office post-1998), not the previous one.
That's so funny. Sadly though, it's true.
You know, choosing him for VP was the worst thing that could have happened to him in retrospect. Had he served a couple more terms in the senate and matured I think he would make an outstanding candidate. I have alot of respect for him and wouldn't hesitate to vote for him should he run.
When did he move from Indiana?
Please tell me he knows how to spell "Indiana" and that there is no Phoenix Indiana?
1. Geraldine Ferraro
2. Lloyd Bentsen (always a good subject of one of those "Is He Dead or Alive?" contests)
3. Dan Quayle
4. Jack Kemp
Joe Lieberman's only redemption was that he represented a state (Connecticut) where it was legal to run for the U.S. Senate at the same time he was Gore's running mate. If he didn't have his Senate job to fall back on, he would have vanished into thin air.
Yeah, he is done. Will never do anything in politics again - and he is probably making 10 times as much $$ and having a lot more fun than if he had stayed in politics.
He got a bum rap - but what can you do?
Can't say I've noticed any unusual Quayle activity lately ... a lot of cicadas, a few rabbits ... no Quayle.
That's true, and it's a damn shame. Hadn't noticed he was raising his profile any. Saw him on the tube talking about Reagan this week. It was good to see him. I'd vote for him but it wouldn't help much.
We do have to be practical, I think - having a candidate that is, from the start, so easily ridiculed, is not a position from which I think a winning national candidacy can be built.
I seriously think the potatoe thing will be a distance memory and people won't put much weight in it. I don't know if Quayle will make a serious run at President, but he would, I would support him 100%.
Not being President is not the end of the world.
Not being President has not had a negative affect in my life.
I agree with the "damaged goods" comment. Dan Quayle, while a fine patriot and smarter than he is given credit for, would have a tougher time making a political comeback than Newt Gingrich - and that ranks up there with "damned impossible"!!
