I agree with you. If you think failed presidential candidates disappear quickly from the scene, just look around and think of the last time you've heard these names (losing VP candidates) . . .

1. Geraldine Ferraro
2. Lloyd Bentsen (always a good subject of one of those "Is He Dead or Alive?" contests)
3. Dan Quayle
4. Jack Kemp

Joe Lieberman's only redemption was that he represented a state (Connecticut) where it was legal to run for the U.S. Senate at the same time he was Gore's running mate. If he didn't have his Senate job to fall back on, he would have vanished into thin air.

The biggest failure as a vice presidential candidate ran on a ticket which couldn't manage to get 35% of the popular vote and even 25% of the electoral vote-- all but one of which were former Confederate States in an era when the south automatically supported this party. The year was 1920, who was the candidate? (I'll guarantee you've heard of him).
