LACI STEPDAD DOUBTED SCOTT'S 'FISHY STORY'
LACI STEPDAD DOUBTED SCOTT'S 'FISHY STORY'
By HOWARD BREUER

June 9, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Laci Peterson's stepdad yesterday testified that he was immediately suspicious of his son-in-law after the tragic mom-to-be vanished.
Ron Grantski said that from the start he scoffed at the idea that Scott Peterson had been fishing Christmas Eve 2002, the day the eight-months-pregnant Laci disappeared, and confronted Scott about it that same night.
"I think your Berkeley fishing trip is a fishy story," Grantski recalled telling Peterson that night during a search of a Modesto park for Laci.
"Did you have a girlfriend that you visited? If you did, you better talk now, because it's going to come out," Grantski said he told Peterson.
Grantski said Peterson who had been having a secret affair with a leggy masseuse at the time denied the accusation.
Grantski suggested two reasons he doubted Peterson's fish tale.
The stepdad said that for one, Scott didn't .........

5:39 p.m., PDT: REDWOOD CITY - Scott Peterson told his sister-in-law he was kind of hoping for infertility when asked about impending fatherhood and told a family friend the night his pregnant wife disappeared that he wouldnt be surprised if police found blood on his truck, witnesses testified this afternoon.
He put up his hands and said, I wouldn't be surprised if they find blood on my truck because I cut my hands all the time, Sandy Rickard testified.
She held up her hands to demonstrate Petersons position when the two talked in front of his home the night Laci Peterson was reported missing.
Peterson said he cut his hands ........

THE PETERSON TRIAL Suspect's behavior described
"Just hours after he reported his wife missing, Scott Peterson told his mother-in-law's best friend that he "wouldn't be surprised" if his blood turned up in his truck during a police search.
"He put up his hands, and he said ... 'I cut my hands all the time,' " Sandy Rickard said in a Redwood City courtroom Tuesday, relating a conversation she had had with Scott Peterson as police scoured his home for clues that might lead them to the whereabouts of his wife.
Rickard was among several family members and close friends who testified Tuesday about what prosecutors are trying to paint as a pattern of strange and unemotional".........

Tue Jun 8, 2004 05:29 PM ET
"REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (Reuters) - Immediately upon hearing of Laci Peterson's disappearance, her stepfather was suspicious of Scott Peterson's alibi that he had been fishing that day, he testified on Tuesday.
Ron Grantski of Modesto, California, who has been with Laci's mother for about 27 years but is not married to her, testified that he was always asking Scott Peterson to go fishing with him. ".........................

Laci Peterson's Relatives Tell of Husband's Acts at Time of Death
"By ELIZABETH AHLIN
Published: June 9, 2004
EDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 8 - Relatives of Laci Peterson testified on Tuesday that Ms. Peterson's husband, Scott, acted suspiciously almost immediately after she was reported missing, but they also said they had no reason to believe that the couple had anything but a loving relationship.
Ms. Peterson's brother and stepfather took the stand here in the murder trial of Mr. Peterson, who is charged with killing his wife and her unborn child in December 2002. It was the second day of testimony from Ms. Peterson's family members, but unlike the testimony on Monday, when Ms. Peterson's mother, Sharon Rocha, wept on the stand, the testimony on Tuesday was more detailed than emotional.
In a surprise, Ms. Peterson's".............

Ron Grantski didn't leave at home a pregnant wife who had been having dizzy spells and shortness of breath. And he was close to home on his own fishing trip.
Thanks, Jackie. You made the point better than I did.
There's no lack of mortar (cement) in this case.
If you don't mind, I'd like to repeat that question you asked: If the word was only mentioned once at 9:40, how could Snott have heard it if he left at 9:30?
Comprehension problems today! Moving in 3 weeks and trying to get organized AND keep up with the news!
What did the Petersons do to mock Ron?
This is unbelievable!
Now I'm confused. I thought the Dec 23rd meringue segment was at 9:40am???
(Can you tell I'm falling behind? LOL!)
I had no idea that they weren't married.
Excellent timetable here...check it out ald let me know what you think.

The impression this person was trying to give is that when Scott said he told Laci about the affair with Amber it could have been true that he did tell her and she just kept it to herself like years ago.
Had you heard any of this?
Yes I heard this...but a bit of spin is put on it every time it's reported by the media.
This is what was testified to...by Sharon.
AFTER Laci's disappearance was when Sharon was told that Laci knew of an affair that Snott had early in their marriage.
Laci never told her family or spoke of it to them....
BUT obviously she told someone, that someone told Sharon AFTER Laci went "missing."
Moving and organized...I'm impressed!

However, Beth Karas on CourtTV keeps referring to him as her husband and Laci's stepfather. If they are not married, he would not be Laci's stepfather.
Grrrr. They're despicable. I thought Ron said that 9:30am is the time he RETURNS from fishing.
I think the prosecution, for one thing, just wants to show that Scott was lying b/c Scott is on record as having said he left the house at 9:30.
So, first, his defense says he did see the brief mention of meringue on the Martha show on Dec. 24. That mention was made at 9:40. So he couldn't have seen it AND have left the house at 9:30. So... he has lied.
Second, the neighbor saw his truck still at the house at 9:39. But Scott is on record as saying he left the house at 9:30. So... he has lied.
To lie is to have something to hide. The jury is left to infer WHAT he had to hide.
Finally, the fact that the cell tower which serves his HOME has a record of a call made by him at 10:08 on the 24th, tells us that he had not left home very much b/f 10:08. That's a third thing that shows he lied when he said he left home at 9:30 on the 24th.
