My friends, the new Zogby poll is out and it bucks a trend. Kerry has been silent, hasn't been doing much, and that's usually when his numbers skyrocket. Not so in this latest poll. His lead over Bush has dropped by three points. It's now 44-42, which is a statistical tie when you factor in the plus or minus margin of error.
Everybody is going ape over Zogby these days because he was the one that called the closeness of the 2000 race. In the latest poll, 11 percent of voters said they were undecided -- up from the 8 percent who said they were undecided in the last survey period. If you add Ralph Nader into the mix, doesn't change Kerry's or Bush's percentage. Those polled remained evenly divided on the war in Iraq.
Now, you tell me if this is evenly divided: 56 percent saying the war was worth it, and 43.2 percent saying it was not. How is that evenly divided? It isn't evenly divided. I don't care what kind of math you use. Then get this: The number of people expressing support for the war was up nine percentage points from last month's poll. The real clincher is the ending with, The real movement is among undecideds who numbered only 5 percent in March and now number 11 percent, Zogby said, adding that some Democrats appear to have abandoned Kerry in the past month, just as some Republicans and conservatives abandoned President Bush earlier this year.
Wishful thinking on the last part. So there you have it. The latest, 44-42, Kerry in the Zogby poll.
Kerry has a serious problem on his hands, and his actions today reveal that he is accutely aware of it.
President Reagan is reaching out from the great hereafter to make his opinion known regarding the upcoming election.
Consider for a moment that the honesty, firmness, non-waffling nature of Ronald Reagan has been on display all week. With the coverage surrounding his death, the contrast with Kerry has been devistating to the democrat's candidate.
The nature of things being what they are, Reagan's death could very possibly swing momentum as much as a party convention.
If Kerry isn't down by ten to twenty points within a week or so, I'll be surprised. Then he's going to have one heck of a time raising them again, even with a convention.
I predict he'll go down ten points plus, and will gain back only about five to seven. After the Republican convention, Kerry will be down by ten points. If Bush and the Republicans are smart, they'll salute Reagan at the convention, allowing them to capitalize on the best of his attributes, that represent the party well.
I'd like to see them capitalize on the rights granted by God, not man, a subject that needs to be reinforced these days.
Kerry and company must be thinking the same thing I am about now, or he wouldn't have been at the Reagan Library today, acting as best he could that he doesn't actually dispise everything Reagan was and stood for.
Kerry can't afford to "come out". He has stayed even by letting the bad news for Bush and the free media doing what his campaign ads have failed to do. Kerry has NOTHING to run on now. The economy is booming and Iraq is turning around. Kerry is counting on a repeat of his primary win. He didn't win it, Dean won it for him by melting down in front of the entire country. I am not too happy with GW's campaign right now but Kerry is incapable of making anything happen on his own and events are turning against him.
Yeah, he is in trouble all right. Looks like McGovern two to me.
He actually looks more like Dole to me. He won the primaries by default and because it "was his turn". I just see a lot of "Kerry supporters" sitting at home. I sure don't see any "broken glass democrats".
I agree with the broken glass part, but the left is looney enough to think he's a bargain at any price. Your Dole point is intertesting and not a far reach.
they asked for anyone but Bush and that's what they got.
I like what you said, but I like the sound of, "...and he's all they got." too. LOL
This explains why he's so driven. The faster he goes the farther behind he comes.
LOL
We all know that this summer's Republican convention will feature a great tribute to President Reagan. Do the Rats counter it by making a tribute to Kennedy (the last admired Democrat they can point to?), and try to make Kerry look like a latter day Kennedy? It's about the only gamble they have left.
Well I realize the democrat leadership has no respect for President Reagan and his ideals, but this was a simple reality really. I don't necessarily see it as heartless or cold. I just thank heaven that he didn't pass away during Clinton's term, so he could hijack the services.
They will be stupid enough to do a tribute to the Insinkerator.
Wow!! You know, I didn't think about a big Reagan tribute at the GOP Convention. Yes, yes, yes!!! That's the ticket. I hope they do it right before the Prez makes his acceptance speech. And, I hope Zell Miller gets a prime time spot to speak at the convention.
you forget: THEY admire Clinton, THEY admire Carter. I expect there will be many hosannahs offered up to Ba'alzeBubba at the DNC in Beantown.
the absolutely funniest thing is the democrats since the day the Supreme Court put down the democrat attemping coup,, for 3 and a half years they would have backed a rock for President,, but the only viable person nominated that could have dampered that enthusiastic momentum?? was nominated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
John F-ing Kerry For President,,WEeeeeeeeeee,, what a boring bombastic pompus ass,,,,,,, LMAO
You can bet they are working on the "Reagan Documentary" for the Republican Convention as we speak. Mr. Gorbe "Tear Down this Wall"
oh yeah,, and he's a funeral crasher too,,,
