They Knew It Was Coming And Stood By And Watched

Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division recently detained three members of an undisclosed media outlet. They took them back to their encampment and asked them several hours of questions regarding a recent roadside bombing that took place near Mosul.

This type of Draconian military behavior should have spawned days of accusatory headlines in 80 font type. Seymour Hersh should have donned the tin-foil hat weeks ago and told us the story behind the story. This should dominate the antiwar outlets of the US media.

This time, that isn't going to happen. Why no outrage? The reason is simple. The media don't want the entire story told on this one.

The media feels this recalcitrance because this story would embarass them as knaves if all the fulsome and scurvy details ever came to light. To the point, these media members knew the time and location of an IED attack aimed at US soldiers, and did nothing to warn our troops. Instead, they sat there with cameras rolling when the bomb went off. God rode with the convoy of soldiers and the bomb failed to strike it's target.

What the IED accomplished, was the stark revelation of exactly how anti-american our major media outlets have truly become. These reporters and photographers wanted some good, gruesome lead footage and were quite content to let their own country lose soldiers.

Incidents such as this could change public perceptions of the media in a way they would never want to see happen. It wouldn't take Protest Warrior long to march with the signs reading "No Blood For Footage".

was this OUR (U.S.) MEDIA and not Al-jizeera ?!?!?!?!!?!?

There is no difference between two -- both are our enemies and hate America.

Did Centcom publish the names or organization affiliations? So far as I can tell they did not. Also I saw no publicity about expulsions from Iraq or arrests.

I sure hope the Mossad is getting value from their agents under cover as Reuters' reporters.

From what I gather, the Mossad is getting quite a value from their agents posing as Reuters reporters.

And not only in Iraq, but there are also Mossad agents posing as Reuters reporters in the Gaza, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Was it Mike Wallace? He's the only "newsman" I know of that said he wouldn't do anything to warn Americans about a pending ambush.

The media likes to think they are a Little Sweden, a Little Switzerland, all independent and detached and aloof. They also like to think of themselves as the Fourth Estate, co-equal with the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of government. But they can't have it both ways. They can't be a Little Switzerland and a Fourth Estate at the same time.

Some months back, a Reuters cameraman stepped several yards out in front of a collumn of tanks. The video footage was from the perspective of the camera falling over sideways. Seems the camera at that distance looked like a sholder launched missile and the lead tanker shot the cameraman with a rifle. "Journalist" who are seen hanging around waiting should likewise assume target status.

Anyone remember the time Peter Arnett was asked by Pat Buchanan on Crossfire about what he would do if while in Baghdad during the Gulf War he had caught wind of a planned attack against U.S. personnel, whether he would have alerted the authorities and perhaps thereby saved dozens of American lives? The man said, "No, I wouldn't. I am a journalist first and foremost."

Yup.

This is all just common knowledge which is why I'm letting it slide.

But if you guys let slip about all the Mossad agents working for Al Jazeera, that would be really irresponsible.

Hmmmmm...

If we're both thinking about those Ethics Talks they used to re-run on CSPAN, then I do believe ol' Mikey converted Peter Jennings to his side.

As I recall (could be wrong, here) the question was asked, 'would you warn the troops.' Jennings, I think, hemmed and hawed and then finally said that, yes, he would warn the troops.

Mike Wallace laid into him like he'd admitted incest or something. Told him that his job was to be a NEWSMAN, not a soldier, or some such.

Jennings relented, and said Wallace was right.

An Army officer looked at them with disgust and pointed out that while they wouldn't bother warning his boys, his boys would lose their lives to rescue the newsmen. Not because the newsmen deserved it, but because it was the soldiers DUTY.

I'm paraphrasing, of course. It's been a while since I watched this.

Please ping this out to all known Freeper lists. I cannot believe that all the resources with all their contacts, could not find out WHAT news organization got advance notice and was waiting to film the murder of some Americans.

The news media themselves may be afraid of this story, like cops don't rat out cops, and doctors don't testify against doctors, etc. But WE on FreeRepublic are never afraid of the truth. And I have three ways to break this story nationally, and will willingly do so, when the information is found.

I look forward to the results.

Some weeks or a couple of months ago it was AFP who was clearly tipped off to be in place for an IED explosion. Come to think of it, it might have been when the 4 American contractors were burned and drug through the streets of Fallujah. Anyway in that instance it was AFP

Let's consider this --

Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), ART. 2. PERSONS SUBJECT TO THIS CHAPTER,

(a) The following persons are subject to this chapter:

(10) In time of war, persons serving with or accompanying an armed force in the field.

(11) Subject to any treaty or agreement which the United States is or may be a party to any accepted rule of international law, persons serving with, employed by, or accompanying the armed forces outside the United States and outside the Canal Zone, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.

Then Falls under ART. 104. AIDING THE ENEMY

Any person who--

(1) aids, or attempts to aid, the enemy with arms, ammunition, supplies, money, or other things; or

(2) without proper authority, knowingly harbors or protects or gives intelligence to or communicates or corresponds with or holds any intercourse with the enemy, either directly or indirectly;

shall suffer death or such other punishment as a court-martial or military commission may direct.

Elements.

(5) Communicating with the enemy.

(a) That the accused, without proper authority, communicated, corresponded, or held intercourse with the enemy, and;
(b) That the accused knew that the accused was communicating, corresponding, or holding intercourse with the enemy.

Explanation.

(1) Scope of Article 104. This article denounces offenses by all persons whether or not otherwise subject to military law. Offenders may be tried by court-martial or by military commission.

(2) Enemy. “Enemy” includes organized forces of the enemy in time of war, any hostile body that our forces may be opposing, such as a rebellious mob or a band of renegades, and includes civilians as well as members of military organizations. “Enemy” is not restricted to the enemy government or its armed forces. All the citizens of one belligerent are enemies of the government and all the citizens of the other.

(6) Communicating with the enemy.

(a) Nature of the offense. No unauthorized communication, correspondence, or intercourse with the enemy is permissible. The intent, content, and method of the communication, correspondence, or intercourse are immaterial. No response or receipt by the enemy is required. The offense is complete the moment the communication, correspondence, or intercourse issues from the accused. The communication, correspondence, or intercourse may be conveyed directly or indirectly.

Maximum punishment. Death or such other punishment as a court-martial or military commission may direct.

Referenced from: http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/mcm/blmcm.htm.

Interesting thoughts yes. Notice it does not make a distinction of nationality for civilians who may be subject under the cited provisions of ART. 2.

So I wonder if it will get taken this far for the Urinalists.

Petah Jennings was at the same "journalists roundtable" and said the same thing. They need fraggin' which is why they stay here.
