CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST

Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.

Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.

Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.

"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.

Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.

The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

"Did any of the Bush family attend Maureen Reagan's funeral?"

"I did want to make the point that no one from the Bush family attended Maureen's funeral."

If you already knew the answer to your question, why bother asking it?

I figured Maureen's funeral was more of a personal, private thing...she wasn't a public figure to the extent that President Reagan was, I don't think. I would suspect that Maureen's husband and her half-brother and sister, Ron and Patty, couldn't have cared one way or the other if a member of the Bush family was there.

Remember when billyblythe's White House gig was over and he was out in the hangar and refused to leave...he said something about not really being gone even though he was supposed to leave.

That bald-faced pig really does think it's all about him.

Do we know if Carter is going to attend the funeral, as is customary for former Presidents? He did go to the opening of Reagan's library so I assume he'd come now...Just curious.

If Clinton had been allowed to speak, it would have been all about Bill instead of Reagan.

Well .. the point these idiots don't seem to acknowledge (because they know the truth), is that it's the REAGAN FAMILY who makes the plans, not the Bush admin. This is just another attempt to try to smear the Bush admin as being partisan - when they're really smearing Reagan again for only choosing Republicans.

The choice was .. current president, Reagan's VP, House Majority Leader, President Pro-tem of the Senate. The fact they are all repubs has nothing to do with it. Even though the dems are trying to say it is.

It's just the typical jealousy stuff from the dems. Also .. Cheney is stepping in for President Bush on Wednesday because of the G-8 Summit.

Let them whine .. it just shows the public how small and partisan THEY ARE.

Unlike Arlen Specter, Orrin Hatch, and a whole buncha other RINO's, Nancy Reagan doesn't walk around with a big "Kick Me" sign on her back. And the 'Rats are astounded...

"He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

Is this a veiled threat to give Mrs. Reagan just a little more time to come around?? This man is beneath all I ever thought was the lowest.

My mind is boggling over these Democrats whining about speaking at the services. They are out of control.

"The crybaby Pelosi is now whining that she doesn't get to speak tomorrow at the ceremony in the Rotunda in DC.
Good grief."

Good grief is right! She absolutely does not have time for a face touch-up!

Their hypocrisy knows no bounds. Whining that they are not going to be part of a man's funeral that they despised. Just astounding in their logic!

This is interesting. Is this shaping up to be a Paul Wellstone type event?

Absolutely not. That is the dem talking point since Saturday afternoon--waiting to pounce on something--anything--in order to claim it. It is absurd and ludicrous and one must reside in the Twilight Zone to see any similarity.

Thank you. I had been wondering who they were. They certainly seemed like family; I just couldn't place them.

I'm curious as to why you would think that my unsolicited advice and opinion that some not turn the Reagan funeral into an "us against them" type event is "causing trouble"?

Because your assumption that it would happen and that your "advice" is needed is an insult.

Clinton is so self-absorbed it's unreal. The people speaking at the funeral are all people we associate with his presidency, and naturally, the current President. I am thrilled over the list of speakers and wish Gorbachev had been included. Clinton has a right to be there, but not to give a eulogy, especially if Nancy doesn't want it.

As I posted on another thread, Mrs. Reagan's former secretary was on TV earlier today. She stated, among other things, that all of the plans for a state funeral had been planned by the Reagans years ago. A 138-page document...probably done before his illness set in (or shortly after it was discovered) Also, his boots and stirrups will be used on the riderless horse in the funeral procession.

John & Ken just laughed that the Reagan Library system is the largest group of well-off white people ever to take public transportation. Heard it with my own two ears.

Reading these posts and considering the subject of billyblythe is just so damned funny. That clinton pig is just a comedic character now that he's out of office. Our job is to simply keep him out of the UN and laugh in his pathatic, unimportant ugly face.
