I had a guy show up at my dad's funeral in cut-offs. What could I say, except thank him for stopping to pay his respects. He was an OLD guy, too, not a teenager.

Dress codes are long a thing of the past, alas. I remember when I went to Europe in 1968. I wore a suit and a HAT!

I hear you about Patti REAGAN's attire. I am NOT a clothing freak. But to wear WHITE and and a skirt that goes up to you-know-where when she sits down. What gives?

For the love of God, will you let it drop?

But listen to this: On CNN the reporter at the library is saying that a lot of the people in line for the bus are YOUNG.....and some of them said that they'd never HEARD of Reagan until this and they want to pay their respects! Can you say 'learning curve?"

Yes, there is much REAL education to do.

I will say this, about teaching the young. I did not vote for President Reagan. I couldn't--I was 11 years old at the time. But I certainly do remember hearing, at P.E. in the 7tn grade, that the hostages had been released, on x40's Inauguration Day. I was a senior in High School (age 17), studying for Finals, when the Challenger exploded...and hearing x40's "touch the face of God" speech when I got home...

Teach the children about this man. I will, if I ever get married and blessed with children.

Plus it is California. It's either swim trunks or $1000 suits

That was my only comment about it. I was wondering if others thought the same. Probably MILLIONS of Americans think the same thing. Show some respect!

Interesting - Carter won the Nobel for what? And President Reagan, who won the Cold War, didn't win. Tells us how much the Nobel Peace Prize is worth these days. (Also, Yasser Arafat won it, too.)

I was 8 in 1963, I watched all of it hour after hour, from the time immediately after the shooting till the funeral. I still remember the cadence of the horses hooves, I still remember RFK walking in procession in his mourning suit. It had a profound impact on me.

I wasn't born until the late '60s, and all emotion and impact of the JFK Jr.'s salute, etc., while touching, is lost on me in large part. I feel so bad that my infant nephew won't have a clue what it was like to have Pres. Reagan as his president in his lifetime and will have no memory of this week's events.

Man in white polo does sign of cross, prays briefly.

I'm in tears.

Excellent idea! Have you noticed, too, that our lovely First Lady Laura's best color is red?

CSPAN as usual does it best. It's wonderful to just see the American people walk by and pay their respects to our president.
