THE WEEKEND THREAD
|
|
I'm back.
Quick check in - Prayers requested for my aunt - she had major surgery last Thursday - am sitting nights at hospital with her.
Sharing in grief over loss of President Reagan. Love to all the finest. Will try and check back sometime tomorrow.
Bump
Well, well - as in " ?? "
- "I'm back, not in front" ?
- "I'm back - like it or not" ??
- "I'm back - and it's lucky you are to have my presence" ???
- "I am back" ????
Admittedly, we have been in the dark since your glimmering light last departed, darks.. |:>)
I was going to tell you all about my day Sadurday at my brother's visiting with my nephew.
But recent events have made me change that.
I know I wasn't here much over the weekend, but I was trying to sort out my own thoughts and feelings on the death of President Reagan.
First of all I would like to apologize to all the Freepers here, both posters and lurkers, For the way in which I misjudged this great man.
Back in 1980, during the election then, when Carter, who I though at the time was doing all right, was running against Reagan. I admit I was working for Carter's re-election. I at that time bought into the notion that Reagan was a scarey man who would lead us into WWIII.
I was so mad when Carter lost that I refused for some time to refer to Reagan as my president.
I was so taken in by the lies (That's how I see them now) of the Democrats; that I was blind to the true nature of President Reagan. And a "funny" thought accurred to me yesterday, the thought that so much about President Reagan that I initially disliked about him back in 1980, are things I like about President Bush.
It was only in the last years since 1996 that I realized what a truely graceous and great man Reagan was and I started to miss having him as president.
I wished I would have seen it back in the 80's.
I waisted so much time with liberals and thier lies. I hope he is now looking on that shining city on the hill he spoke of.
May God bles and comfort Nancy and the Reagan family in thier time of grief.
May God bless America!
LOL!
Yeah, I suppose I should be somewhat more specific as to where I am back from.
*chuckle*
I post from a network, and the main machine, the gate, went down a few days ago while I was trying to post.
It was finally patched back together with a complete shiny new windows version yesterday.
I'm still somewhat scared I might break it again.
I eamn to change my tagline for this week
As Sean Hannity would say "MARRRRRTY!!!!"
Coolbeans.
I've run into very few who have done as you describe.
I wished they would.
Lord, be with dixie's beloved aunt, and cradle her in Your hands.
May The Comforter be with her family and friends as they tend her with loving care. Amen.
I live within a liberal bastion within a conservative area in NY, few have ever changed their views like that here.
I found this pic of the Gipper as he was getting ready for his showdown with Gorbachev, back in '87 in the little border town of Rejkavik.
This is a week for the sweet grief that comes to us as we remember and honor those we dared love, and who loved us in return, and died for that love.
Finally, below is a pic taken just this morning, with my special Heaven-cam ... President Reagan, back on life-guard duty, watching over us all with his loving eye.
He touched me, changed my life, shook the slumber my eye, brought me 'round to my conservative self and taught me to love my Country again.
I pray that I may live the rest of my life in gratitude and service to his memory, and, perhaps someday, win one for the Gipper.
Fare thee well, Mr. President ... adios, my friend.
It is therefore prudent and necessary
that we gather to have an unofficial
Holding Hands for Darks Ceremony --
When's it ever going to end?
(((MAGGIE)))!
We sure have a fabulous collection of images on today's thread.
LOL!
