My run-in with a Democrat National Committee/ John Kerry Supporter
myself ^ | 02 June 2003 | trueblackman

Posted on 06/02/2004 1:05:07 PM PDT by Trueblackman

Yesterday while heading out to lunch here in downtown DC, I had a chance encounter with a young female, who was employed by the DNC and passing out flyers.

She approached me and said "Help the Kerry defeat Bush and Democrats take back the Congress."

I clicked off a quick list of things about John F Kerry.

1)He has only one black person and no Hispanics on his campaign staff.

2)No one has no idea were he stands on anything.

3)As a vet I am sick and tired of him running arounding acting like a warhero, when he received 3 papercuts and after 4 months went home, were as I did three 6 months deployments and 7 years in the NAVY so why would I vote for that clown.

4)Plus on top of it all I am a Republican.

The little Democrat was left with her mouth hanging open, I guess she had never met a black man with a free will of his own and a handle on issues.

A older lady soon showed up and they moved down the street.

Not nearly as much as they are afraid of you! After all, you are one of those EEEEEvil warmongering Republicans/neocons/rightwing maniacs!

We should always remember that we are their worst nightmares....and enjoy it accordingly.

Great post. In my out of class conversations with "minority" students I am often pleasantly surprised by the conservatism expressed on many issues especially the social ones. But connecting the dots to voting Republican seems to be the hard part.

'Four feet good, two feet better'.

That quote was from Animal Farm not 1984. Both books were by Orwell.

I've got dialog going on with a bunch of liberals, young and middle aged. The part I'm missing with them is the convoluted logic they use to justify their beliefs.

Case in point. I posted the story about 1.2 million jobs being created so far in 2004 on a message board. Here is the reply I get from one of my "friends":

if employers are hiring now because they know BUSH is going to be ousted. Usually during an election year when there is new employment growth it is because Corporations are expecting a change in power. This happened right before BUSH sr. lost to Clinton. Sure, one can say it is because BUSH has done something good that has started this growth, but we all know that isn't true.

I will tell you how I know this. Because when Clinton won his first election in the early '90's and the job market started to really take off everyone said it was because of BUSH sr. Republicans said it takes a few years for things to catch up. Well if that was the case of BUSH rs, then the same must be said for Clinton, right?

Well, perhaps It took Clinton eight years to ruin the good work done by 12 years of conservative administrations. And it only took 3 years with the economic disaster of the 9/11 attacks in the mix for George Bush to guide the economy in a positive direction.
It may be stretching, but a legitimate case can be made.
