Why is Alec Baldwin doing intro's on History Channel's D-day programming?

Posted on 06/01/2004 8:01:56 PM PDT by karbine

Has anyone else had a hard time watching the excellent line-up of Memorial Day/D-Day programming on History channel with Alec Baldwin as host/emcee? I was astounded by the gross insensitivity of History Channel having a hard-core leftist with the reputation of alec ("Stone Henry Hyde and his family to death") baldwin introducing segments and doing some narrating. What are they thinking? Everytime I see or hear him I lunge for the remote control. I watch History Channel more then anything else on tv, but they must have some sick pinko's in production who are able to slip through some disreputable material and characters sometimes. Several years ago, on Veterans Day, they ran a program about Hiroshima and Nagasaki that seemed to have been done in Europe. It's premise was that the US only used the A-bombs because they were new toys and we just wanted to play with them and we were all a bunch of racists who didn't care about incinerating a few hundred thousand Japs. Who in the hell would pick a day like Veterans Day to air a program like that? They insinuated that the war was already over and there was absolutely no military reason for the use of the A-bombs. I doubt if I'd be writing this now if America hadn't dropped those bombs. My dad was on a ship heading across the Pacific then and God alone knows what might have happened if the invasion had had to go ahead as I think it would've. We should all let History Channel know how we feel about the in-your-face insult of having someone like baldwin hosting and narrating programs honoring our real heroes. God Bless America, God Bless our valiant servicemen and women-active and retired, and God Bless our President and his re-election.

Hey! He played Jimmy Doolittle in Pearl Harbor. That makes him an expert on WWII and a prime spokesman.

Actual conversation heard at my house this weekend in response to these spots....

Daughter: Alec Baldwin? I thought he was leaving?

Wife: He didn't.

Daughter: Too bad.

Maybe the spots are being filmed in France, where Mr. Baldwin took up residence after George Bush was elected President.

Or so I'm told.

It's because the people who run the History Channel have the same mindset as Hollywood. They think Baldwin is one of them (and they are right - I mean, they are left.)

Who knows why he's on. Trying to restore his tarnished image. What a work! He looks like a drunk punk. I have these hollywood people figured out. The reason they are so left wing in their views has more to do with them feeling they are more marketable that way. It's all about money and sales. By being anti-government they somehow they think more people will go see their movies or buy their records. They are wrong and bums like alex baldwin are proof. Now evidently he's trying to make the turned off public think he's patriotic when all anyone has to do is read all of his antics during the Clinton years and just see how out of control this drunken bruser really is. A mental midget if you ask me. I can't stand to look at his face.

You are correct. Besides, he has a decent voice. Also, I read sometime back that he vowed to keep his mouth shut from now on. He was too over the top and he said he learned his lesson. Man's gotta eat.

"They insinuated that the war was already over and there was absolutely no military reason for the use of the A-bombs."

I guess the fact escapes these "intellectuals" that we were expecting such enormous casualties that we are still using Purple Heart medals to this day which were made for the land invasion of Japan. Makes one sick to the stomach to think that Kerry got three of those that were made for true heroes back in WWII.

I fired off an angry email to the History Channel Saturday night about this. No reply (yet). I change the channel every time his smarmy, treasonous face comes on.

I think HC is under the Disney umbrella. It has always been PC.

Yet History Channel International is pretty good.
