BRUSHFIRE ALERT: "Screw Pizza Hut"
******************** "Screw Pizza Hut" June 1, 2004
Ronald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years and has always packed heat on the job, reports WorldNetDaily.com (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=38726) today. At around 11 p.m. on May 17th, just after he had made a delivery in a high-crime neighborhood in Indianapolis, a dirtball confronted Honeycutt with a loaded 9 mm handgun. At that point, Honeycutt pulled out his own 9 mm from the back of his pants and fired 15 times, hitting the would-be robber at least 10 times, killing him.
Sounds like pretty good gun control to us. And dare we say, an awfully effective deterrent.
Anyway, Honeycutt went back to his Pizza Hut store and called the cops. The cops have since determined that Honeycutt acted in self-defense and will not face criminal charges. Nevertheless
Pizza Hut fired him.
For violating a company policy against carrying firearms.
BRUSHFIRE ALERT: Now, lets be honest here. Pizza Hut, as a private business, has the right to make such a rule and enforce it.
On the other hand, WE have the right to voice our objections to such a stupid rule and refuse to do business with them unless and until they change it.
And if youd like to voice YOUR opinion about how Mr. Honeycutt was treated, you can call the Pizza Hut corporate office at 1-972-7700 or give them a pizza your mind by emailing them through their website at http://www.pizzahut.com/contact/feedback_other.asp
You can also quickly and easily locate the Pizza Hut franchise store near you - along with their phone number - by going to: http://www.pizzahut.com/locator/.
I just called the store in my neighborhood and spoke with the manager. I explained that my family would no longer be dining in her restaurant and why. The womans response was, You should call the corporate office. That incident in Indiana has nothing to do with us. To which I responded, Well, it does now. Cause you just lost a customer over it. Maybe YOU should call the corporate office.
Something tells me she will...

Yes. Definitely thank Pizza Hut for announcing to the world that the only thing standing between a criminals and a couple thousand dollars is a defenseless employee.
bump for pizza lovers
Nothing a few hours at the range won't cure. Honeycutt will have it down to a double-tap to the chest next time (assuming he is using +p JHP.)
Oh, and Pizza Hut pizza sucks anyway.
I hate Pizza Hutt too!
Well.. I just blasted off my "pleasant Email" to the good ol Pizza God! Sonic.. Here WE come..!!
I guess next, when / if a robber comes into my house, I should just hand them everything.. Including the gun to shoot me! *I don't think so TIM*
Uh oh....this is one thing I don't think I could boycott.....love Pizza Hut.
I will complain though.
bump
A lot better than the other pizza joints like Domino's with their thin, crappy pizzas. (I have not tried Papa John's yet though....heard it is really good).
"(I have not tried Papa John's yet though....heard it is really good)."
Nah, the sauce is too sweet (or it was at least; I can't eat anything with wheat now so haven't had it in a while).
I agree with your sentiments, however, Mr. Honeycutt has no right to complain if he took his job with Pizza Hut knowing of their 'no firearms' policy and then proceeded to flout it and break it. His termination was inevitable and he should thank his lucky stars he is alive and take his lumps for violating the company policy.
At best, Honeycutt took a calculated risk when he decided to ignore the company policy. No one forced him to work for PH, and he was always free to find a job more to his liking. He couldn't stand the heat but, instead of getting out of the kitchen, he put his job -- as well as his employer -- at risk. He's lucky.
When I'm on company time, I abide by the employer's policies. The RKBA stops at the door (and/or on the clock).
I'll keep buying Pizza Hut pizza.
I've been avoiding their "pizza" for over 20 years now!
Don't know if they have them where you are, but try East of Chicago pizza. They blow Pizza Glut away!
In defense of Mr. Honeycutt (although he seems to be doing fine in that regard himself!) it's only fair to note that firing under stress, with someone possibly shooting back, is a lot different than shooting paper targets at the range, and 10 hits out of 15 shots is pretty commendable.
OTOH, if he had say a .45, it wouldn't have been necessary for the reporter to add that the perp died.
LOL!
Message sent!
And if his employee had been shot and killed, Pizza Hut would have had their pants sued off. And unless the company furnished him protection, I can't see where they have a leg to stand on. Give the guy a bonus not the boot.
He did better than most police officers in a similar situation.
psssst, it's a magazine, not a clip. You can learn that at the range.
