KHOBAR, Saudi Arabia - Tens of American, European and other hostages were released Sunday and a gunman believed to be the lead Islamic militant holding them was arrested, a Saudi security official said, adding that two other gunmen were "in the process of being arrested."

Mosque buyers in appeal to Saudis [Jews and Buddhists want to take it over]

AN offshore bank account has been established by supporters of one of Australia's most hardline Islamic clerics to raise donations in Saudi Arabia to help pay for a $2.65 million mosque in southwestern Sydney.
Supporters of Sheikh Abdul Salam Mohammed Zoud are trying to raise the funds before next month's settlement date on the property, which is near their existing small prayer hall in Lakemba.
Monitored by ASIO, the prayer hall has been at the centre of controversy. Members of its congregation include alleged terrorism suspect Faheem Khalid Lodhi, charged with preparing a terrorist attack and recruiting for a terrorism group in Sydney and Pakistan.
Sheikh Zoud married French terror suspect Willie Brigitte to Australian Melanie Brown at the hall before the Frenchman's deportation last October. Other members include Bilal Khazal, charged last week with allegedly publishing terrorist material and whose release on bail triggered criticism by Attorney-General Philip Ruddock.
It is unclear if the hall will close and its growing congregation move to the larger, unused mosque in Belmore when the purchase is settled.
Sheikh Zoud - who refuses to comment on the mosque purchase - is among clerics teaching a fundamentalist form of Islam called Salafi.

Are you in the city these days? What's your impression? More surveillance?
The easiest way to get a large nuke into and detonate in any of our cities would be to simply have it aboard a chartered private jet and detonate it before landing. I do not think that would be that hard to do.
Are a lot of the subs out too?
That sounds most logical, oceanview. Especially after the supposed meeting on Iran among GWB and others at the G-8. A few different actions must be taken soon...
I worry about the political ramifications for Bush over this. I don't think Americans want to see another confrontation, the media spin will be enormous, they will say that the claim that Iran has a nuclear program is the same as the WMD claims about Saddam before the Iraq war.
Yes, GWB is in another catch-22 with the opposing side again being the relentless lying lamestream media and the lying left.
I think he will do what needs to be done trying not to ruffle too many feathers, but we know the leftists will always oppose him no matter what. I think the left should just get up and move into the Middle East myself; they always know better, so let them live there and fix things.
"The Last Jihad" by Joel Rosenberg opens with an assault on the U.S. President's entourage at Denver International Airport. The attacking aircraft is a private jet inbound from Canada. It's not a big stretch to imagine a private jet in Canada as a platform to make a run on any major city in the northeast or midwest. Smuggling the weapon into Canada via ship or barge isn't that tough either.
Just started to try catching up.
I saw this over at Mutter's, and it reminded me of the elk situation. The symptoms certainly sound quite similar.

New mystery cow disease in UK
London, June 8. (Guardian News Service): A possible new cattle disease, which might pose a risk to human health, is being urgently investigated by UK government vets.
Tests on a heifer that died after five to six days of weakness in her legs and progressive paralysis have failed to identify any known condition, including BSE. A viral infection that damaged the white matter in the cow's brain is thought responsible for the death more than two months ago.
The animal was at first thought to have died from botulism, a condition that is potentially dangerous to people through infected milk and food and is responsible for similar symptoms.
But that test proved negative, as did checks for West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne fever that Britain has so far escaped, louping-ill, a tick-transmitted disease also found in sheep, and other known conditions.
A spokesman for the UK's Veterinary Laboratories Agency last night said: "The long-term risk to public health is not known. It is impossible to make an assessment of risk on a single case when the agent responsible is not known. We are now investigating this." Officials were last night unable to say where the affected farm was but said no meat from the cow had been allowed into food.
It is understood the brain signature left by the disease looked nothing like BSE but there have been recent suggestions that there is more than one strain of that disease. Ten other cattle which had been in contact with the dead cow have tested negative for louping-ill.
Other vets and farmers will soon be alerted to the case via the Veterninary Record journal, typical of the more open attitude demanded by the inquiry into the BSE disaster.

Dear Granny-
About 2 months ago we were driving on the Cross Bronx Expressway. Two "ME- looking" young men were standing on a bridge overlooking the highway, and threw some liquid at the cars.
Hope it was just water.
This is good news indeed.
We ought to not only be rounding them up, but taking possession of the mosques and doing some searching. We also should be blockading the ports- especially NYC, Philly, Stamford, San Diego et al.
We would take an economic loss, but imo it would be worth it.
Re- nukes
On the information posted yesterday- the "secret plan" page- they were saying that they had 7 nukes. 5 were from the former Soviet Union and 3 were from our good ally- Pakistan.
Sean said last winter that they actually had considerably more nukes- some 35 or so, if I recall correctly.
(That was when the NEST teams were allegedly searching for the nukes.)
They are bragging that they brought them in - via cargo ships- prior to 9-11, and have them well-hidden.
I wonder where one could hide a refrigerator size nuke and get away with it?
They are also bragging that they have several planes hidden in rural areas- possibly in barns/warehouses.
That is one far-fetched "rumor" and the folks that fed it are delusional. I am speaking only about how the CIA plans to oust GWB and his team BEFORE the August GOP convention. LMAO on that one! They are a bit late on their timeline for that objective, I would say.
As far as indictments, they can indict a ham sandwich, can't they?
Re- trucks.
I share your concern.

Important!!!!!
Usually before a major terrorist strike by Al Qaeda, they release the wills of past martyrs ... Their reasoning is anyone's guess ... however, this could be serious ... they have just re-released several of the wills of the 9-11 martyrs (murderers) along with videos of World Trade Center. What is even worse, is that the links are getting so many hits that they keep exceeding their bandwidth.
