*Whoops*..! My Bad.! Yes, I also use a linksys setup! Works like a champ.
That sounds like a DHCP lease expiring. Try switching to a static IP address, perhaps something like 192.168.0.2.
thanks, will try that, appreciate the suggestion.
Somewhere there may be an idle timeout setting.
I had nothing to do with it. I think it probably comes from trying to use the wireless unit in the shower while eating cheese.
Click the "Advanced" button.
Click the "Wireless Networks" tab at the top.
Uncheck the box at the top, marked "Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings".
I have same router - different wireless card, laptop and same problem. As much as I can figure, it's the confusion from XP over what network to latch onto. My neighbour has an unecrypted dlink 624 broadcasting the SSID that gets in the way.
I tried putting unchecking the box "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings." Problem there is every time I reboot, it's checked again and I have the same problem. ARG!
Any tips on that?
In Canada-- so can't blame Bush ... maybe Harper, though... or Moore for creating disturbance in the force (http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/07/14/canada/moore_elxn040714 ).
Ferget it...
The service mentioned earlier "Wireless Zero Configuration" was set to restart automatically on reboot. Stopped it and set to manual in the Administrative Tools -> Services and that seems to do the trick.

Go to your wireless router settings and enable a 128 bit encryption and run on channel 9. This will *theoretically* stop any interference with your phone/microwave. Also, many ISPs don't like routers on their network, so you may have to clone your mac address so that it is the same as a computer that is connected directly through the modem. I had the same problem with my $30 belkin router. It seems to be fixed by going wireless networks>change advanced settings>wireless networks>uncheck use windows to manage my wireless settings, as posted above. So far so good. LAN connection at 54MBps and excellent connenction through 3 doors and a stone wall...
