I didn't see a live thread for it, so here it is. Randy Travis won song of the year (?) for Three Wooden Crosses.

Brad Paisley is just about a local boy here (Wheeling is right across the border from Pittsburgh). That man oozes talent and he's beautiful eyelashes to boot!

A few steel guitar & fiddle chords thrown in over what's basically a pop song doesn't cut the mustard w/me.

In the immortal words of Mark Chesnutt (from "Good Way To Get On My Bad Side"):

"A little sissy in a cowboy hat ain't country!"

Why would they put this on the same night of American Idol?

Because they're idiots and want to torture us. All it does is make viewers switch back and forth.

As for Idol, I'm indifferent as to whether Diana or Fantasia wins. My favorites were already voted off the show.

What ever happened to the Dixie Chicks? I don't hear much of anything about them. I was thinking they may be doing gigs in europe, and making mucho euros.

You don't understand.

Anything suggesting that all males are not perfect if sung by a woman means that you are a man hater. Even if the mother is the abuser as is the case in "Concrete Angel". That doesn't matter. Only the conclusions you jump to matter.

Of course songs like "Ruby, don't take your love to town" and "Who's your daddy?" when sung by men are either all in good fun or true representations of females.

And vise versa.

Sometimes I get sick of people reading their causes into everything. Just enjoy the music.

People are given awards for excreting this stuff? They should be lucky they don't get incarcerated.

IMHO, natch.

Once things mature they tend to rot. That's a piece of "wisdom" the old cat has arrived at itself, and it applies to just about anything. It's certainly true of popular music, film and literature, three areas the cat watches outta one eye. The commercial, popular stuff in these fields, which often gets enthusiastic reviews here, one might note, ain't worth the price of an economy size bag of kitty litter on sale - interrrrresting things happen only on the fringes. Watch the fringes, I say!

Do you have to keep revolting cats away from them?

I thought it was cool when Toby Keith and Willie Nelson accepted the award for "Beer for my Horses" in the video category. Willie held up his arm with the bandage from his carpal tunnel surgery. Toby at least showed up to get his award, in contrast to past practice.

Martina McBride -- top female vocalist. Beat out Shania, Terri Clark, Sarah Evans, Patty Loveless. Go Martina! Beautiful voice, lovely, classy woman.
