I am a general officer. Nobody could spend the 25 cents to call me? Ahem... um, Janis... Paging Brigadier General Janis Karpinski...
Well, she ain't answering her official Army cell phone, her home phone answering machine message box full, checked every TV cable show all over New York and Washington, what do want the Army to do? THEY SENT YOU A FREAKIN' EMAIL, GET OVER IT!
ps - Max Factor called: It seems that you have joined Omarosa on the reject list there, too.

"she had no idea of the depth of problems uncovered at the infamous prison outside Baghdad. "
Prosecution rests, your honor. She is guilty as charged (or will be).

I read Taguba's report on her and the lack of discipline and good order of those under her.I haven't read the report, but based upon eight years of active duty, there's no doubt in my military mind that the chain of command was nonexistent. Why? The abuses took place between 2-4 AM.
Where were the NCOs? Where were the officers, from the butterbars to the stars? Had they been doing their jobs, this thing would have been stopped long ago.
Every unit that I was assigned to had 24/7 manning, with staff duty officers/NCOs responsible for oversight after normal duty hours. Routine inspections after hours would have uncovered the hanky panky taking place.

"She wasn't allowed into that unit..The MI ran it"...That's her story , she's sticking with it and McCaffarey stuck it to her for disclaiming any reponsibility over her own MPs....Big breakdown in oversight....I am sure as soon as the investigation is completed, the MI is in for some house cleaning, too.

When people are given positions they havent earned to promote a politically correct agenda this is what you get.
The government offices are full of these people , now the military obviously has their quota.

What, she doesn't believe in paper trails?? A phone call is not a paper trail.
Tell her to read the Taguba report.
Also tell her that her policy of: "Visiting each prison at least once in a three month period" isn't acceptable to even me, based on common sense. She's a disgrace as a "leader".

Brig. Gen. Janis L. Karpinski insisted that she was "set up'' by Army officials Well, this is certainly a surprise (/sarcasm)

Brig. Gen. Janis L. Karpinski insisted that she was "set up'' by Army officials who had her sign the letter when she had no idea of the depth of problems uncovered at the infamous prison outside Baghdad.
Ok, General, so the 'Army officials' twisted your arm and forced you to sign the letter.
Maybe, at that point you should have been suspicious and asked what you were signing.

I'm a General...and you only sent me an email!
You didn't send any flowers...I know nothing.
"During the course of this investigation I conducted a lengthy interview with Brig. Gen. Karpinski that lasted over four hours, and is included verbatim in the investigation annexes. Brig. Gen. Karpinski was extremely emotional during much of her testimony. What I found particularly disturbing in her testimony was her complete unwillingness to either understand or accept that many of the problems inherent in the 800th MP Brigade were caused or exacerbated by poor leadership and the refusal of her command to both establish and enforce basic standards and principles among its soldiers."

So, was Karpinski lying when she said this: "In a December 2003 interview with the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, Karpinski said conditions in the prison were better than many Iraqi homes and joked that some of the POWs might not want to leave."
Oh, I guess Brig. Gen. Schultz knew nothing of what was going on.
To: NYCVirago
Her job: Lock up Iraq's bad guys Not so much lying as clueless. When they had an IG inspection about Abu Ghraib in the summer and the International Red Cross was asking questions later and other items, it should have given her a clue, but it didn't.
To: Anti-Bubba182
"Abu Ghraib, at the time these offenses were committed, did not belong to Brigadier General Karpinski. It was not her prison to go into. It belong to Colonel Pappas..... "
Isn't the highest ranking officer in charge? Certainly a General outranks a Colonel?
I don't have any military background at all, so can someone please straighten me out if I a wrong. I expect a General to be a take charge person, not someone whining and carrying on as a victim, like the low person on the totem pole.
It does make me doubt the Army, if this person can rise so high in the chain if command.
