I'd hate for them to look in my van. I have a whole arsenal of toy weapons.

Of course, I'm not trying to board a plane with my van either.

Witness: "I flew with Striker during the war. I'll never forget the night we bombed Macho Grande. Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it."
Lawyer: "Buddy couldn't handle it? Was Buddy one of your crew?"
Witness: "Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it. And he went to pieces."
Lawyer: "Andy went to pieces?"
Witness: "NO! Andy was the navigator, he was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued."
Lawyer: "Howie came unglued?"
Witness: "Oh no, Howie was a rock. The best tail gunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued."
Lawyer: "And he bailed out?"
Witness: "No, Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How we survived was a miracle."
Lawyer: "Then Howie survived?"
Witness: "No 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day."
Lawyer: "Over Macho Grande?"
Witness: "No I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande!"

Rumack: I'm going to tell you something I've kept to myself all of these years. I was in the war, Medical Corps. One night they brought in a badly wounded pilot from one of the raids. He looked at me and said, "Doc, the odds were against us up there, but we went in anyway. I'm glad. Captain made the right decision." The pilot's name was George Zip.

Ted Striker: George Zip said that?

Rumack: Yes, he looked at me and said, "Doc," he said, "Some time, when the crew is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to get out there and give it all they've got. And win just one for the Zipper. I don't know where I'll be then Doc, he said. But I won't smell too good, that's for sure."

If you ever do that again, I'll send Democratic campaign recruiters to your house. Now I need therapy.

I live in the incoming flight path to IAH and noticed yesterday (the 19th) that flights were coming in at a lower altitude than usual. I had also heard what I assumed were F-16s thundering around earlier which is not a usual occurence unless Pres Bush is visiting.
However, I have got to the point where the unusual is the usual, you know?

I can top your steel-toe boots. My dad always delighted in passing through the metal detectors even back in the 70s and 80s (he passed through the big metal detector in the sky in 84).

The 9 inch long plates used to hold his right thigh bone together would get everybody excited. He just doesn't know the fun he's missing these days. Wonder if St. Peter had to get his wand out?

Naw, he probably just checks an atonement-rich blood covering.
