My theory, since I obviously wasn't there, is he was already dead and they thought later it'd be a great bit of Hollywood and bragging rights to add a beheading to the video. An autopsy, if it were done, should have been able to confirm that (according to Quincy).

The entire blood volume of an average size human is 5 liters, i.e. about 1.25 gallons.

To quote from Blackadder II:
Edmund: Excuse me just a second. Baldrick!
Baldrick: My lord?
Edmund: That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead?
Baldrick: Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick.
Edmund: Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake.
Baldrick: No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.
Edmund: Fine!
My understanding is that Nick Berg and his head were found several feet apart, before this video was shown. That would indeed seem to do the trick.
Perhaps Freepers posting from Pravda should adopt the DEBKA rule and put (Pravda) in the title so that the rest of us don't have to bother clicking on the post.

A human head contains 1.5 gallons of blood BOVINE COOKIES!
The average human body has 5 liters of blood. That equals 1.32 gallons. Approx 750ml/min of blood circulates through the brain.

This is almost (but not quite) enough to make you miss the Soviet Union. At least the Politburo could control these lying savages. Now they are a cross between a really sleazy tabloid and a strident jihad propaganda rag. Weekly Arab News of the World perhaps?

" didn't think it were possible for the Russian Pravda to be less trustworthy than the Soviet Pravda, but it is."
This is English Pravda. It is an English language web site, with English writers and has nothing to do with Russia or the Soviet era newspaper of the same name.

"The point is to provoke doubt ..."
I have an inlaw like that - that's how she controls her husband - constantly making these tentative little remarks, " well, if you're sure you think it's a good idea ..."
How he's kept from decapitating her after decades of this I don't know.

I've seen this stat posted before and still have a hard time believing the human head contains 1.5 gallons of blood. Same here -- the head would have to be *completely hollow* to hold anywhere near even a gallon of liquid.
To: Florida_Freeper; CholeraJoe
According to
Infoplease the entire human body contain 6 quarts of blood, or 1.5 gallons. I think Pravda probably misunderstood this statistic.
For the human head alone to contain that much, you'd look like an alien freak, having a huge head with no bone, brain, or nasal cavities in your head.

Where would the rest of that blood be, you may be wondering. That's easy..."bleeding heart Liberals". And, you'll rarely find any of their blood on a battlefield where good men died to defend their sorry, leftist Clymers.

It was quick to point out that what the terrorists do to Americans is far worse than what the US is doing to the Iraqis. Our media? Yeah right! If the rest of this wasn't so ridiculous, this alone would prove they are liars! ladyinred

Although the quality of the video was bad, I would expect more blood than what was shown on the video. Based on what knowledge? Have you ever witnessed a decapitation in this manner? I witnessed one in Saudi Arabia with a sword and yes, at the instant of severing the head there was a spurt of blood from the artery. However it was very quickly extinguished once the artery contracted.
In the Berg tape, they literally sawed his head off and it was done with him in a prone position and took several seconds to complete and most likely crushed the artery due to the dullness of the knife used.. This was not a quick clean slice of a sharp blade. As to the "jumpsuit". It was a shiny material and most likely a robe. The time stamp difference was due to 2 cameras being used one using military time and the other using civilian time.

It's a shame to see Americans so easily misled by Pravda tripe.
Have you ever spilled an entire gallon of milk on the floor though? It covers a huge area. I'd expect that if someone was beheaded alive, the blood would be spurting and there'd be a massive, growing puddle of it.
