Long speech, but well worth reading and listening to.

MP3 here

bump for later.

I have me a signed appreciation certificate from Keyes.

Why, oh why, can't he get a grip on himself, take speech lessons, find a political handler, and become a real player?

There's that possibility that, quote, "an accident" might happen, and then there you'd be with a, quote, "crisis pregnancy," and so forth and so on.

...possibility of another party, of a third life, of a third being, which would be the fruit of their relationship.

If it's all about reproduction, then do we allow 80 year old people to marry? What about women with hysterectomies? How about couples that promise the world that they shall never have children and will abort them immediately, as they have done so many times in the past?

The similarities between the Massachusetts court decision and Roe vs. Wade are more than coincidental. The liberals have found it an effective strategy to use the courts to make America in its own image, while overriding the will of the people.

The liberals then expect us to roll over and take it. Are we going to? I think Dr. Keyes is right that if we do, our republic is dead and our freedom is gone.

So, what are YOU going to do about this?

I can't help it, I just like him.
I think he would have made a fine President and we would have gotten more mileage for the conservative movement.
I still have his faded sticker on my bumper.
I just like him.

Of course non-fertile couples can get married. That doesn't contradict the point that in principle, marriage between a man and a woman results in children, and that society and the government has an interest in protecting that institution. It's the principle, not the exception, that makes the rule.

Keyes was given a special gift, but it's best used in areas other than politics, and in my opinion, more important than politics.

They used to use thugs and now they use lawyers, not really a huge difference.

So true.

Same here; though on an old car that don't run no more.

Years ago, I asked why he did not move to a solid Republican district (First Tennesse) and win a seat in the House?

Why does society get involved? ... It's because, throughout human history, there has been an acknowledgment that, well, marriage is about family; it's about having kids.

Actually, it's about increasing our population numbers as (1) to amplify gestalt, (2) to defer invasion, and (3) since evolutionary "success" is generally defined synonymously with fecundity, by sheer numbers alone. In every case, it's really about increasing the number of friendly citizens. These seems to be the strategy of all nations that subsidize marriage. As Richard Dawkins so brilliantly conveys, it isn't all about DNA. There's the culture (meme) that evolves as well. In other words, there is no such thing as the "American" race.

Reproduction is only one method for achieving these goals. Immigration and Hegemony are others. More important than these two is to increase longevity, as in reducing the number of casualties on the battlefield (by technological superiority or tactics), as well as at home (by increasing the lifespan of humans). It is this third reason that best logically supports "gay marriage" with the "still in infancy" argument that married couples tend (more often than not) to have less sexual relationships ('one' being the ideal) than non-married couples. Since AIDS spread by promiscuity, and AIDS kills, AIDS reduces our population count, and wastes our resources both labor and material.

If it's all about reproduction, then do we allow 80 year old people to marry? What about women with hysterectomies? How about couples that promise the world that they shall never have children and will abort them immediately, as they have done so many times in the past?

A legitimate child is one with a mother and father who were married when the child was born (or when one died prior to the child's birth). An adopted child can be legitimate, regardless of the status of the birth parents, if the adoptive parents are married and are recorded as being the child's official parents.

If a child is adopted by a man and woman who are married, that man and woman will be forever known as that child's mother and father. Whether they are the biological parents is irrelevant.

No man, homosexual or otherwise, can be a mother; nor can any woman, homosexual or otherwise, be a father. Same-sex "marriage", therefore, cannot give a child legitimate parentage.

So obvious, yet our society doesn't comprehend it anymore. Thanks for your insightful comments.

No society can survive when it rejects self-evident truth.

He has a grip on himself intellectually better than just about anyone I've ever seen.

Take speech lessons? You're kidding, right? He's one of the very best communicators of conservatism there is.

He is not prone to 'handling', believe me.

Depends on what you mean by a 'player'. While it is true that he has not won elective office, mainly because he hails from very liberal Maryland, he is certainly a player if you define that as someone who has moved an agenda that is critical to the future of our republic.

We could use a few million players like that.
