Memo to Britney: Lose the low-slungs La. lawmakers weigh banning belly-baring, bottom-peeking pants

DALLAS - Memo to Britney Spears: Make sure to forget those low-rise jeans next time you fly home to Louisiana.

And Ludacris, why don’t you pull up your pants and cinch them with a belt before you take the stage in Baton Rouge.

Otherwise, you might both get a ticket.

That’s what the Louisiana House Criminal Justice Committee approved last week. The new proposed bill would crack down on anyone who wears low-slinging, pants-sagging, belly-baring, underwear-peeking pants. It faces the full State House sometime within the next two months.

I don't think the constitutionality of something is ever a big priority in the minds of legislators or jurists when they're intent on enacting and enforcing laws that serve their best interests.

I don't know if you remember, but there was a law passed by the Georgia legislature which criminalized female genital piercing. Now, I think that the original purpose of the law was to outlaw the increasing number of cases involving clitoridectomies and infibulation taking place in Muslim households, but it applied across the board. So, theoretically, a woman could be incarcerated for voluntarily piercing one of her sexual organs.

Laws against public nudity and indecency have always been on the books, always, even before the constitution. It is just a mistaken or ignorant pop culture notion that any of the laws are somehow new and thus tyranical.

As if the Federal Government is not intrusive enough, yet some want them to 'step in' and correct this enormous national threat.

If you want to moon people or follow hollywood's example, move to San Francisco, you can drop your pants there all you want.

Next, I agree, clean up Mardi Gras, locally of course, the Feds need to tend to the slightly more important affairs, like eliminating terrorism.

Yep, with the other sexual spectacles in that State (Car-nee-vaal, that is, Mardi Gras and various shades of nudity every weekend in various locations), it's getting more and more obvious that feminists are moving toward eventually outlawing low body mass index for women. Sooner or later, we'll see any woman under 200 lbs. being jailed and force-fed.

Law makers at work...obviously with too much free time...I always like Jesse Venturas suggestion that the legislatures should spend half their time repealing stupid laws and not just thinking of new stupid laws.
