Hmmmm. Well, I did a 'google' on this and there is a conspiracy theory going around that since Berg was wearing an orange jumpsuit and the walls behind him were yellow (just like at that Iraqi prison where the prisoner abuse was taking place) and since it appears the killers were wearing bulletproof vests and are large-sized....then that means that conspiracy with a capital "C". Weird, at any rate.

Remember that one guy that went to the Phillipines, he was from california I believe. As I remember it, he was an admirer of the AbuSayaff and went to the Phillipines to join up. They ended up holding him hostage and then cutting his head off? Could this be something like that happened with Nick Berg?

I will say this: The beheading was an evil, horrific act. The motive behind it is still in question.

Now, we would not be all up in arms if the terrorists had beheaded one of their own, rather than some nice young American kid.

So, the question becomes: What was Berg's relationship with the terrorists? Was he with them? Against them? A dupe? A captive? What?

This we now don't know. It's all in question. How to react to this whole thing is going to depend on the answers.

I still think they dressed him in an orange jumpsuit because that's what the prisoners at Gitmo wear, and they knew this would be an image that would resonate in the Arab world.

Ultimately I think this will all be a case of "wrong place/wrong time," but all the sundry coincidences are giving rise to some of the most bizarre conspiracy theories I've seen for a good long while.

I read yesterday that Berg's father said that his son supported the war.

Nick's father also proclaimed yesterday that Nick was "The greatest humanitarian of all time"...FWIW

Try to square those two statements up considering his father is a leftist/MoveOn/A.N.S.W.E.R guy?

Put the two statements together and the absurdity is really glaring.

I noticed before that that he sat there, somewhat complacent. It seemed strange. It was like he didn't know they were about to execute him. His face didn't show 'knowing fear.'

The Iraqi police don't have access to our files on who was questioned re 911 etc. You can bet on that. That's why it's so strange that the Gov't says they were never holding him. I just don't buy it.

In my personal opinion, he was possibly setting up evesdropping components on Iraqi communications networks. If so I would think it was being done for a foreign government. You can be sure that our guys are all over the telecom equipment with evesdropping technologies too. The NSA is said to have a tap on all communications coming in from overseas.

This is something I wondered about. How can Joe Citizen just "go" to Iraq? Don't they check everyone out to make sure they belong there? It's weird, just too, too, weird.
