Well Berg worked on a tower in the same town as the prison in the news and I think you are perceptive to have caught that from the pictures!

Hillary said it. Am not aware of
pics going to Senators, just a
letter accusing higher-ups of
ordering the "softening up" of
detainees before their being
interrogated.

So this kid was in Kenya, where Al-Qaeda bombed our embassy in 1998, in school at OU in 1999/2000 around the same time as Moussoui (who bought Nick's computer and used his email address), and worked at the Abu Ghraib prison on a tower around the time of the insurgent mortar attacks there?! His dad is a known ANSWER spokeman, and his uncle by marriage is an Iraqi who lives in Mosul?! Can we verify these facts? Good grief, next somebody will be telling me that the kid "worked" in Uganda...

So finally we learn this guy's real name?

I heard about the letter but I was wondering if any of them say Hillary had received the pictures too! Guess we will never know that detail.

I just read on the NBC message board that the BBC was reporting that Berg was actually killed in Iran and not Iraq.

Haven't heard that. The only Iran connection so far that I've heard is that US officials asked Berg if he ever travelled to Iran.

And it would be a hard trip to make from Iran back to Baghdad to drop off the body.

He doesn't have to win the nat'l championship, but he needs to get into a BCS bowl this year. If he beats OU, that pretty much happens. If not, that's what, 5 losses in a row to the Sooners? The guy just doesn't develop his players enough, is too loose on the discipline, leading to inconsistent play and showing up unprepared. Too many mental mistakes, and too many stars taking off on some plays.

That's what I thought as well! That would be five in a row! If we had a better defense in Bob Stoops first year, we would have won then too. Mack Brown coaches scared it looks like to me and makes some really dumb mistakes. By the 4th Quarter the players seem tired too!

You all deserve better then Mack but only on the other ten games -- for the 11th Mack Brown is a great coach for OK and would hate to see him leave! :)

Berg also claimed, during his first trip to Iraq, that he was picked up by authorities who were concerned about Iranians crossing over. He was held overnight (as I remember) and released. This has always stuck with me because in other reports he is said to have looked like a Marine with short hair. Somehow that doesn't describe an Iranian to me.

Your observation of him being without cuts or scrapes .. was that just from the video or do you have inside informaton ..??

Has anybody considered he might have been slightly drugged?

Sorry, should have been more clear in my reply. I just meant the "they killed their best friend" section of it as I realize both were couched in other sentences.

I just find it odd that two different people used the exact same wording. Especially b/c from what I've friend I don't see anything that would have made me jump up and say he was a best friend to the Iraqi people...I mean, it's not like he had been there for ages and had been doing all sorts of things.

Just seems odd to say it that way. MAYBE if they had both said "they killed one of their friends" or something less specific, but for it to have been identical wording, especially so vague as to the 'they,' and without (at least to mean) there being obvious reasons for them to both think those in Iraq should hold him so dear...

I'm very interested to see where this (situation) goes next...the twists and turns seem to increase daily.

"Michael Berg:I am sure that he only saw the good in his captors until the last second of his life...they did not know what they were doing. They killed their best friend."

Skip Best: "The real losers are the Iraqis. They killed their best friend. They just didn't know it..."

Whats so telling about those statements to me is the fact that these people think that friends can be made of these these Devil Worshippers.

An incredible lack of judgement!

The beaten down Longhorn side of me knows exactly what will happen. Mack will lose an early game he shouldn't lose, the fire Mack chorus will howl, then somehow he'll find a way to beat OU and save his job, then get upset in the Big 12 champ game, squeak into the BCS (irony of ironies due to the screwed up NY Times poll having them ranked #2 when every else has them around 10th), where they'll show up unprepared on New Years and get spanked. But it'll be just enough that Mack and all the writers will argue about how unfair it would be to fire him after finally getting UT into the BCS and beating OU, the two big goals, completely ignoring the underachieving and bonehead coaching gaffs. So we'll muddle on for more seasons with Mack, squandering talent and opportunities with overhyped players as too much of the real stars gets lured out of state.

The Al Gore of coaches.
