I used to occasionally go to the North Korean official website and read their extremely slanted coverage of the news and wonder what it would be like to live in a country where the main news outlet was such an absolute liar. I don't have to wonder anymore. This coverage of the Iraqi naked prisoners (ohhhh! the horror!) by the official news organs of the USA is so one sided, so slanted, and so very far removed from anything resembling reality that I can now truly say: the North Koreans have nothing on us.

I'm certain these enemies have themselves convinced that Kerry will win in November and then it will be only a matter of a couple of weeks before we start a pullout from Iraq. We can expect no let up in their activity as long as they feel November will bring them victory. Why should the believe otherwise, every day the mainstream press published another poll showing how far President Bush's approval has fallen in the last 24 hours, the entire mainstream Democratic party is reported day after day bad mouthing the administration and our war on terror. If they know anything about our history when it comes to standing in for the long haul they've got to believe that we haven't stood solidly behind a country since WWII. We encouraged the Bay of Pigs invasion and then didn't keep our word, we abandoned Viet Nam when the press declared the war had been lost and let Saddam slaughter thousands who had risen up to overthrow him based on our assurances they would get help from us. It's like there is a script for how we do these things and we're being very faithful to that script right now. The only thing that would change their minds right now would be a massive stand by the US to retake Fallujah while telling the world we don't really care what they think. The forfeited their chance to have a say in how we handle Iraq when they declined to be a part of the solution and made themselves a part of the problem. It's all too depressing to see it playing itself out again and again. All we are doing at this point is prolonging the agony. Our ineffective actions are costing both American and Iraqi lives and until we do something akin to dropping The Bomb on Japan they will have no reason to feel they aren't winning.
