Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

Nick Berg's blood is on Dan Rather's hands. If they had let the military punish the soldiers who did the prisoner abuse instead of blasting the pictures on TV, the murderers wouldn't have had revenge as an excuse for Berg's beheading. Our news media needs to apologize to the Berg family, the US military and to the nation. Since they are so big on apologies, I'm sure they will willingly do this .

I understand the outrage, but think for a minute -- CBS, especially, is sensitive to something like that. The FCC has all the broadcast outlets walking on eggshells right now. The notion of the airing of the full video is probably sending the executives in to spasms right about now.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

I just called and asked
Melissa, "Are you going to be showing the video of the savages beheading Nick Berg, on the news tonight?"
She answered, "We're going to be featuring the story but not the video."
I asked her, "Why not? Didn't you show the photos of naked Iraqis and Iraqi prisoners in dog collars, at the hands of American soldiers?"
She answered, "That's a little bit different."
I asked, "Why is that different? Politicians and media pundits are calling what the Americans did 'atrocities.' I would think that the beheading of an American civilian at the hands of Islamist savages are a greater atrocity."
She said, "I will pass your comments on," and immediately hung up.

It's a snuff film. The Nets can't show it. People who want to see it will find it.

Doesn't the media also push for a day when they will be able to televise a genuine execution of the death penalty in America?

I e-mailed them earlier and suggested that the least they could do is show the video due to the fact that they have some of the responsibility in the murder.

The nets CAN show it. There is no prohibition on footage of death. It is a standards and practices thing.
The protestor who was run over by a tank in China was aired.

I just called the local CBS affiliate - WBZ. The receptionist connected me to the newsroom. They haven't a clue. Seemed genuinely confused as to what role CBS played in all this.
