It wasn't legal. SecDef said himself in his testimony on Friday that this report, a CLASSIFIED doccument in an ongoing investigation was taken by someone and LEAKED to the press. This was part of his answer to a question by Hitlery where she boasted about knowing more about the Taguba report than he did.

Here's an editorial from the Dallas Morning News today. Note the sentences that I highlighted in blue. I wonder if they'll put all the photos of Nick Berg on the front page tomorrow? Do you think that they'll write another editorial calling for us to deal "swiftly and firmly" with the thugs who killed Berg?

You can write a letter to the editor here.

What Next? These steps vital for America, not for Rummy

12:11 AM CDT on Tuesday, May 11, 2004

Should Donald Rumsfeld stay or go?

The man whose opinion on the question matters most, President Bush, declared yesterday his full support for Mr. Rumsfeld. At this point, we share neither the confidence of the commander in chief nor the conviction of those who want the defense chief cashiered. Yet the hemorrhaging of American credibility must be staunched one way or another, because it directly imperils the war effort. The next week or two will be decisive.

Here's what should happen next:

Release the remaining photos and videos. All of them. To everybody. America will take a tough hit from the disclosure of new images, but better to get it over with now than die a public-relations death from a thousand cuts.

Close Abu Ghraib prison, the Bastille of the Saddam Hussein regime. Or better yet, turn it to rubble. As a symbol of man's inhumanity to man, it can't be redeemed now, if it ever could have been.

Show the world that America won't tolerate such behavior from its soldiers and that those who countenanced it will be dealt with swiftly and firmly. Actions are more important than words.

Besides, we should do this not so much for the sake of the world but for ourselves and our national honor. As Sen. John McCain, an ex-POW and torture victim, said the other day, "America's greatness is defined by the treatment of our enemies."

Determine with all deliberate speed to what extent the abuses resulted from reservists asked to do work for which they hadn't been trained. Recent newspaper accounts indicate that the guard units at the center of the scandal hadn't received proper instruction and were put in charge of overseeing three times as many prisoners as Army doctrine called for.

That final point gets to the heart of the debate over Mr. Rumsfeld's future. Critics treat the abuse scandal as emblematic of the Bush administration's conduct of the war itself. That view holds that Mr. Rumsfeld's inadequate planning has resulted in a chaotic and worsening situation and in conditions that made Abu Ghraib inevitable. If evidence points to such a conclusion, the public must see it.

We aren't prepared – yet – to say Mr. Rumsfeld must go. No responsible government discharges its defense minister during a war, unless it has no real choice. But time is tight, and the worst of the images, as Mr. Rumsfeld himself warns, is yet to come. The revelations that soon will break upon us, and the administration's reaction to them, will define the limits of Mr. Bush's choice.

However, the son and victim, Nick, was a supporter of President Bush.

I don't believe this for one minute. He was for Bush, but against the war? He was for democracy, but against the war?

I will concede and reserve judgement for now, but his Dad sounds like a typical rat.

I felt the father was lying the first time I read it. There was no argument. He's part of ANSWER, and he's simply blaming Bush.

Nick Berg was not against the war, his father was.

Michael Berg, the FATHER is a member of ANSWER and came right out today and said he was anti-war.

Nick Berg, the poor soul in the video, was said to be a Bush supporter and went to Iraq to help build a democracy. According to his mother he believed in the cause.

"He had this idea that he could help rebuild the infrastructure," she said.

"He was a Bush supporter," Berg said. "He looked at it as bringing democracy to a country that didn't have it."

That is pretty much exactly how the Soviets put a stop to their nationals being kidnapped and murdered by Islamists. They sent a couple of Islamic psychotics home in a box full of pieces. The scumbags got the message.
