Loftus: Al Qaeda defector spilled beans during Clinton administration
John Batchelor program - WABC radio (New York)

John Loftus on the John Batchelor program says that in spring of 2000, an Al Qaeda defector walked into the Newark, NJ office of the FBI and told them of plans to crash planes into buildings.
(After this statement I didn't hear too clearly what was being said, but I believe Loftus said the FBI thought the plot sounded crazy and let the guy go. Loftus said the FBI was sick and tired of people like John O'Neill --who was later to die in the WTC-- constantly warning that Al Qaeda was going to attack; so they didn't want to hear what the defector said and just dismissed him.)
This defector, he says, is now living in a British safe house.

"alot of the stories [Loftus] talks about pop up, and then get buried. like the jordanian WMD attack" Yup, now take a guess WAG why that is.
(Because they were bogus!)

He is not always wrong He was totally correct
about one major and amazing story
that never was reported
by any other news-source.
It was confirmed to me
by a close personal acquaintance
who knew all the details of the episode.

"... and then get buried. like the jordanian WMD attack, or the story about Al-Zahwari possibly being killed in Pakistan."
They get buried because they're dead. Loftus completely invented the VX angle to the Jordan story and it got passed around from there.

the Pakistani story about the (possible) killing of AZ was not "bogus". it was a hot story for a couple of days as you recall, it turned out not to be true, but that doesn't mean that Loftus' advance tip about it was incorrect.

"it turned out not to be true, but that doesn't mean that Loftus' advance tip about it was incorrect." LOL, how do you figure if it wasn't true, that the intel was correct????

Loftus never said AZ was killed. He simply said that one story coming out of the Pakistani offensive was going to be the possibility, a "claim" in other words, that AZ was nabbed. that was correct. the end result of the story, when the dust settled, did not pan out.
similar to the decapitation strikes on Saddam during the war. the claim was "we got him" at the time, both the first night of the war and that Mansoor restaurant bombing, we know now that was incorrect.

Oh man, Aztlan? From your link:
Ernesto Cienfuegos, editor-in-chief of Aztlan, twisting WND's scoop around, claimed, "La Voz de Aztlan received information today that many of the rape and sodomization pictures of Iraqis are now being made available to perverts by Jewish-owned pornographic websites based in the United States
We should all be frightened by the Dems whose out of proportion sense of outrage is simply a device, as it is with Aztlan, to undermine the United States.

More details:
The defector passed an FBI lie detector test
in summer 2000
in Newark NJ
saying he was part of Al-Qaeda
and they were planning to fly airplanes into buildings
but the FBI still refused to believe him.
He was returned to England
where he was sent to a safe house.
There was an FBI report on the defector.
However there was no translation until much later.
A woman translator called Sybil Evans read it
and has tried to get the story out.
The law firm Barnett
which has filed a lawsuit against the Saudis
on behalf of the 09-11-01 victims
tried to get a deposition from her.
However
since Ashcroft slapped a ban on such depositions
Barnett was not allowed to take it.
(John Loftus works as a legal advisor for Barnett)
The story turned up yesterday in the London Sunday Times
apparently quoting anonymous sources.

The BBC showed the entire press conference where the "tip" was fabricated. The Pakistani speaker, with broken English, in clear precise words stated there was no information that AZ was present, a follow up asked if AZ could be present. The Pak military spokesman, said I guess, but we have no knowledge he is.
That's not a story, the Paks denied it(AZ presence) 3 times within the next 24 hours, and yet he still ran with the BS story "tip".
To: oceanview
"Loftus never said AZ was killed." OK, so let's look at what Loftus did say about that offensive in South Waziristan and Paktikia Province to see how totally unreliable his so-called "intel" was.
Loftus claimed that the whole operation was a ruse perpetrated by Musharref, and that both Zawahiri and OBL along with a large contingent of their troops, were no were near that area. Loftus claimed the Americans were being "had" by a duplicitous Musharref. The problem with that outrageous claim is that it was the U.S. (not Pakistan) that developed the original communications and photo intel placing both OBL and AZ in the area in the first place.
And by the time the operation drew to a close, we and the Pakis had killed or captured multiple hundreds of Taliban and al-Qa'ida terrorists, and made South Waziristan a very dangerous place for the terrorists to seek sanctuary or operate in.
Loftus is not always wrong, but he is wrong so often (because of his built-in left-wing biases) that he CAN NOT be relied upon for anything other than entertainment.
(And it didn't go unnoticed that you failed to address Loftus' ridiculous claims about the Jordanian WMD attack!)

"And what story would that be?" Maybe this story. A sampling of "Allan"...
"John Loftus works as a legal advisor..." 1
"John Loftus reported this story..." 2
"According to John Loftus tonight..." 3
"According to Loftus last night..." 4
"According to Loftus..." 5
"Update by John Loftus..." 6
"Loftus says..." 7
"Loftus also says..." 8
"John Loftus has been saying..." 9
"According to our friend John Loftus..." 10
"to quote Loftus accurately..." 11
"According to John Loftus..." 12
Hmmm, I wonder, a simple obsession or something more?
What needs to be appreciated is that John Loftus is a *hard-left* source of mis-information, speculation and out-right invention. Here are just a few of the whacky things John Loftus supports and promotes.
- A congressional investigation into the Bush-Nazi family ties.
- That Bush aided known terrorists in the Saudi Family to escape the U.S. in the days following 9-11.
- That this war is all about oil.
- That Jonathan Pollard is a victim and should be released from prison.
No one can be a more unreliable source of intelligence than a source so biased and confused, that he can't even come to grips with the most fundamental fact of life and that is, we are at war because of terrorism, plain and simple.
John Loftus is so lacking in credibility that even one of his primary promoters (John Batchelor) has publicly taken him to task for his lack of reliability.
