In his latest election-year stunt to undermine the Bush administration -- and our national resolve to finish the job in Iraq -- John Kerry has launched a petition calling for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Kerry claims that Secretary Rumsfeld should be held personally responsible for the actions of a few soldiers in Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison who humiliated a group of the captive terrorists in their search for "actionable intelligence." This is the same John F. Kerry, by the way, who has alternately employed claims of his Vietnam wartime heroism and wartime criminality to catapult himself into the highest echelons of public life over the past three decades. Kerry’s irrational call for Rumsfeld’s resignation, harkening back to his days as a Vietnam War protestor, is anything but out of the ordinary for the "gentleman from Massachusetts." His campaign claims that petition has received about 250,000 signatures. Act now to refute this political folly and support Secretary Rumsfeld.

Well, this is what my neighbor is saying. She listens to the news and blames Rummy. She thinks this is Vietnam. The military is satan again and like to find E-1 scapegoats to hide their incompetence.
During WWII didn't Ike make any mistakes? Did our soldiers do anything illegal back then and were court martial? And I'm sure FDR's Sec of Defense made some blunders too? My reason, the left will try to use this isolated scandal to weaken our resolve to defeat the WOT. If we walk away slowly from Iraq we will be attacked again by the terrorist. I don't want to live in the dark ages, do you?
