Chris Wallace Leaves me in Tears
4-9-04 | patriciaruth

Posted on 05/09/2004 2:38:45 PM PDT by patriciaruth

Chris Wallace advertised his Sunday news show as a time to put the names of our fallen soldiers in context.

Ted Koppel had simply read the names of the soldiers who have sacrificed all, the last full measure of devotion, for us to live in peace and for the Iraqis to have a unique and blessed chance to find peace and security and democracy. So, Chris Wallace decided to have a show to put those sacrifices in context, and talk about all the good things that the American soldiers had done in Iraq.

So, I tuned in, and I am still sobbing and shaking with anger remembering how he started the show with over fifteen minutes of a rehash of the last 10 days feeding frenzy over the terrible abuses a few soldiers had perpetrated on some Iraqi prisoners.

CONTEXT?!?!

THIS is the context you want me to remember our war dead!!

You garbage, you thoughtless garbage!

I was too upset to watch the "tribute" which came after the filthy trash.

I'll never watch that cruel, demented show ever again.

"FOX carried live a considerable portion (about an hour, maybe more) of the White House Press Core pounding Scott McClellan with redundant questions about Bush's National Guard service."

Guess a "group of Viet Nam vets" doesn't rate on FOX.

but then grief is whimsical about when it hits you.

You're so right-on about that.

I went to Los Angeles a couple years ago to help my Dad move, which was a few years after my Mom died. Trying to pack or release all those things that he hadn't even seen for many years brought us to tears many times.

We obviously had to buck up and get it done, but there were many difficult moments.

I woke up late, so just watched the latter part of the show. That part was a tribute, and I enjoyed it.

I'm glad I missed the beginning.

Those who have lost someone very dear in the service of our country maybe can understand my reaction. I guess those that haven't suffered this loss can't. Here is my tribute for our war and service dead, which has been on my profile page for the last few years.

I understand your reaction and I thought your poem was great.

Anyway, Chris Wallace's 10 minutes is a puny amount of time spent with all that we have accomplished and with all the lives that have been sacrificed.

Contrast that with the amount of time Wallace spent covering what six pathetic prison guards did to a bunch of pathetic prisoners.

And some Freepers are so o'er joyed with 10 minutes -- Whopeee!

Not overjoyed. Just recognizing that the little bit was more than the week before, and would like to know how to effectively bring about much more of it.

Personally, I don't know what steps we can take to push for more, and would appreciate any suggestions.

He's not fit for local news.
If he weren't Mike Wallace's kid, he wouldn't be working in the biz.

Truly a disaster. I've also stopped watching when Tony left.

Now I'm glad I accidentally missed the first 15-20 minutes of the show. I thought that what I saw was good.

I read it in the WSJ. I don't have an on-line subscription and we are moving this week, so my hard copies are long gone. I think that the guy's name might be Wilson, but I'm not sure. He left NBC in anticipation of the NBC merger with Vivendi, and if Vivendi sounds familiar it's because it's the same station that is sponsoring Al Gore.

**The moderator should probably pull this whole thread anyway.**

Probably so. I have been here for less than a year - have never seen a group more dedicated to supporting our troops than FReepers. The news this past week of a FEW of our troops playing S & M - plus losing more of our gallant defenders - combined with the constant demeaning gargling of the media has been more than troubling and wearing on our nerves to say the least. If a comparative newbie can offer a suggestion? ~~ Before we hit the Post button with an angry response, just imagine how the DU lurkers are enjoying this.

Thank you, Eva. I still can't tell if it's good news or bad news though. Did the article mention what kind of changes were being anticipated with his arrival at FNC?
