"FREEPER" SON TO BE NOMINATED IN NEW JERSEY'S 12TH DISRICT AS THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS

"FREEPER" SON TO BE NOMINATED IN NEW JERSEY'S 12TH DISRICT AS THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS

Bill Spadea, real estate executive and former Marine, and the son of long time Free Republic member Mick Spadea, overcame the last hurdle in his quest for the Republican nomination for Congress in NJ's 12th district when his last primary opponent Bruce Afran, Green party activist and recent convert to the Republican party, dropped out of the race.

Bill Spadea's father, who describes himself as "more of a lurker than a poster", last week asked Free Republic owner and Web Master, Jim Robinson, for permission to post his son's campaign newsletter. Mr. Robinson granted the permission and wished Bill good luck.

Mick Spadea said in response to the Robinson permission "I appriciate Jim Robinson allowing me to reach out to the members of this site worldwide and ask for support for my son. This site has been a beacon of hope for those of us who believe that our liberties as free men and women are under constant assault here at home and internationally. Whether it is the threat of Godless liberalism here at home or Islamic Terrorists overseas, we need political leaders with steel in their spine who are not afraid to fight for the right whatever the costs. My son is that kind of fighter. He joined the Marines while still a senior in college because he wanted to serve the land he loves".

When Bill Spadea was National Chairman of the College Republicans he fought the senior party because of their lack-luster support for conservative principles. His funding was cut off by then Natl Chairman Haley Barbour because he wouldn't give in to their censorship of his organization's news letter ( it was too conservative for their tastes ). He never relented.

He fought then and he will fight now for those traditions and principles that so many of our forebears died to uphold.

The second page of this newsletter is a copy of an invitation to a fund raiser in Washington DC May 12th. If you are in town please come by to see us and meet Bill. The list of sponsers will show the kind of support Bill is getting in Conservative circles.

Mick Spadea made this appeal for his son: "I won't beat around the bush. Winning elections takes money. I ask all of you who read this to send Bill $25.00 if you live outside New Jersey and $ 100.00 if you are a Garden Stater. When you go to the site > billspadea.com < please identify yourself as a Freeper so when we win you can receive an invitaion to our victory party !! Thanks to all my Freeper friends, and especially Jim Robinson for allowing me this post. May God continue to grant His blessings upon this country and her people".

Most excellent!

That said, I belong to the school that says "no solicitation" means "no solicitation". Granting indulgence to someone tends to weaken the concept and suggests that FR will bend the rules *IF* you have the right connection, the right ideology, or the right view.

But, it's not my board, and I support Jim's right to run it the way he sees fit. I just would have made the call on waiving the solicitation rule, the other way...Again, I celebrate conservatives getting nominated and share the joy!

Mick, (face reddening due to my ignorance) which geographic area does the 12th district cover? I live in Mount Laurel (Burlington County) and have a lot of connections. If the votes from Mount Laurel will help (I think Mount Laurel is actually district 13) please LMK and I'll get the grass root efforts going.

Also, doesn't that interfere with the tax status at FR?

Congrats on your son winning the nomination. It looks like a tough race but winneable. We definitely need more conservative Congressman from New Jersey, someone needs to represent all the Steve Forbes Republicans out there and I recall both Congressman Chris Smith and Scott Garrett were written off as "unelectable" when they first ran. Shows you how much the liberal media knows.

You should post here more often. Thanks for the thread though, I'll spread the good word to all my NJ friends.

Good luck!
This is the kind of "grass roots" stuff that deserves an "excellence in freeping" BUMP. I admire your guts and your class in going straight to Jim and asking permission. That is the right way to do things.

Regards,
LH
