More from the article:
...An Interior Ministry official from the Spanish government, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Friday the bag turned up in a van that had been stolen and abandoned near the station where three of the four trains departed from before they were bombed. Inside the bag was the same kind of detonators used in the attacks that killed 191 people.
The van was found in Alcala de Henares, about 20 miles northeast of Madrid. Police said they also discovered an Arabic-language cassette tape with verses from the Koran in the vehicle....

Brandon Mayfield, a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, lawyer and former Army officer who converted to Islam, was taken into custody . . . Imagine that.

"converted to Islam"
Definately a pattern here.

If true, I hope they give him a fair trial and a quick hanging.

I asked this in another thread, but how could they track this guy's prints like that? From what I read, he didn't have a criminal record.

.....the lawyer [Mayfield] whom FBI agents arrested in Portland as part of the investigation into the deadly multiple train bombings has ties to a group of people found guilty of helping Al Qaeda and the Taliban.Brandon Mayfield (search), a 37-year-old U.S. citizen, lawyer and former Army officer who converted to Islam, was taken into custody Thursday on a material witness warrant, said a senior law enforcement official in Washington, D.C.
Yup! Sounds pretty innocent to me. (/sarcasm)

He's a former Army officer. It's the same reason my prints are "on file", although I've never been arrested.

You don't have to be a criminal to have your fingerprints on record.
He was military, they have fingerprints.
If he got a concealed carry, he'd have prints, a gaming license, he'd have prints, etc.
Hope that answers your question.

This POS was a former Army Officer and had an Oregon driver's license.
The Army has his prints and so does the Oregon DMV if he has a recent license.
