That would just store the article incase it gets deleted, which is one of the main reasons we have tried to post the entire articles.
Then we would have it available when it is no longer available on the web site. Some newspapers stop allowing access with a few weeks to the whole article unless you pay for it.
How I see this being used is I post some article and paraphrase what was in the article. You want a copy, and I send you a copy via the email system via Free Republic. It slows down the process buy allows documentation.
It could become a real pain in the rear end.

I was wondering about that, too. At least we only have to make ONE STOP
to see whether a source is on the *Censored* list.

I say we start Freeping the Net to shut down ANY other site which engages in activity which is forbidden here...
Sounds good to me. :o)
As I understand it, if we can DOCUMENT that the lawyers from USA Today know about other violators of its "no full text, no excerpting" policy, and do nothing to restrain THEM, they considerably weaken their case for any future action against US.
So...
Hey, USA Today lawyers: Investigate THIS!
From a "site-specific"
Google search for site:www.commondreams.org "usa today":
Results 1 - 10 of about 276 from www.commondreams.org for "usa today"

Note thst **I** only posted the "title and a link" to these CLEAR violations of their policy.
I did remove TWO of the first ten Google hits found by this serach, as they only referred to USA Today; the others listed above are all "FULL TEXT" USA Today articles - currently posted on www.commondreams.org.

Okers.
I have no use for the Star-Gazette here in NY.
Nor the Ithaca Journal.
But I'll keep it in mind.
Thanks for the ping/head's up.

Ok, thanks. I just needed to clarify the paraphrasing business.
A time is quickly approaching when we will all be needing to discuss tactics via freepmail/email instead of in public.

Seriously, what we need is an Archive site. The Archive site would have two levels of security. Level 1 users could search and retrieve any article they posted to the site, they would not be able to see articles other user posted. Level two users would be able to search and see the entire site. Might enable level one users to search entire site, but only retrieve article matadata.
What do yall think, if the site admin was careful about giving out level 2 access this might work, web crawers can't get to well protected directories. Such at site could give level two access to FR moderaters and respected freepers, it would not be accessible to the public, search engines would not detect it. And it would be easy to do? What do yall think?

"The prohibition basically turns us into a chat room, and they know it."
Well there is a way around that too. Orginal content, review articles and post the reiew on FR with a link to the original, abstract articles and post a link. This is really an opportunity for Freepers to become content providers. Lot's of ways to do that, review, abstract or write orgininal content. Personall I will be writing one article a week for FR, and if I come accross something great I will review or abstract it.
We are Freepers, freakin low life lawers are not going to get the best of us!

I doubt it.
And from now on, anything from the LSJ, Detroit News, and Detroit Free Press I'm just going to butcher up and rewrite.
And not even give a link to it.
To: jimrob
Yes, I was surprised to find my posting blocked because the "Tennessean" joined the rags who think the First Amendment exists for their personal benefit. As no financial concerns are threatened I can only see these imposed limitations as warfare on a politically ideological front. Big Jim, if you don't take it on someone else might not. Courage seems to be a very rare commodity these days.
Since we are being so constrained could you see that a prominant "Don't Post From" list is linked from the main pages? I searched around for one last night and couldn't find any.
To: Jim Robinson
We could run deir news sto'ies drough some dialectizer. Ah be baaad... Den it becomes some derived wo'k and deir sto'ies kin be posted in full. De English lanuguage be full uh synomyns as well as 3 o' 4 wo'd phrase replacements. Sentences kin be bugger'd down, o' combined, and rearranged. ah' duzn't dink dis would be some difficult honky code t'scribble. I'm willin' t'contribute t'scribble such code, as ah' would dink many Freepuh's would also. 'S coo', bro.
