Surely you can tell the difference between Neville Chamberlain and George W. Bush... if you can't... then heaven help you! LOL!

No, I haven't seen the interviews.

I don't think this is good. I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

not to mention dis-respectful.

Can't let you pass on the dis-respectful part. When Clinton was president nobody here respected him. Nobody was arguing that he wasn't fair game to attack because we should respect him and his stature as president.

Respect from freepers is generally earned.

And you haven't been reading very closely. I've been critizing the way this war was being fought, and the fact that our president is fighting it based on political considerations instead of based on killing terrorists before they kill us for a long time now. And I'm not the only one that has been making that case.

This non-apology is just more of the same policy.

If the President is given more opportunities that will be watched in the Arab world to directly speak to them, this will be all win, and very little loss.

I seriously hope that the dialog resulting from this is just beginning.

I would address 'those ripples in the Arab world' with plently of fresh MOAB's!

Ask Jesse Lynch how she was treated in captivity.

CFR, fedral spending, WOT, tariffs, etc, etc, etc.

I am having a hard time understanding the pricibles that guide our president. I think he might be adrift.

Would you feel the same way if you knew for certain that the prisoners in question were Al Qaeda terrorists responsible for the deaths of many Americans? .....Or how about if bin Laden himself was the one "bullied and humiliated?"

What's that got to do with the point we are discussing.

Second, what those soldiers did was wrong.

I'm sure most of realize that. The point of contention seems to be the excessive attention given to our shortcomings or mistakes. I do not believe the administration should assist the media in prolonging its shelf life.

I think Al Jazeera is claiming that one of their journalist is one of the abuse victims :-)

I am sorry, but that just amuses me slightly.

On a total different point, I think that the "prisoner abuse scandal" has gotten waaaay to much play in the media. Ours, let alone the arab press. Particularly the hypocricy of the arab world is laughable.

Cheers from an effeminate European male :-)

So...it's your plan to Moab 2.95 billion people. That's your plan? That's the best you got?

If so, we have nothing left to discuss.

Ah, yes.

Punish a bunch of Arabs for the misdeeds of a few American soldiers. Brilliant logic.

I understand the "great harm" fear, but I honestly believe that this incident can instead serve as a great illustration of the difference between our military and others.

Time will tell, and whether "great harm" or "great good" comes of this is yet to be seen, as I read this situation.

I ablosutely agree with you. My point was that there are many on this thread that chose tt tear him up before they heard the interview. So sad, and it's been happening a lot as of late

How articulate with the F-bomb. Your a class act! This is being blown out of proportion and will not believe any of it until all the facts are known. No need to respond with your language.

Pray for W and Our Troops

The president is in a difficult position. If he takes it too easy on the insurgents, that might embolden them. If he comes down too hard, that might breed further resentment of us, and generate new enemies.

Just show some patience with the President, and stop second guessing. It is our patriotic duty to remain stoic & on an even emotional keel, while our troops are in the field.

You know, that is part of the issue. Prior to invading Iraq our administration estimated that 1 out of 4 Iraqis hated us and or would die for their cause. That comes to 5 million people. I think if you go to a war with 5 million people you have to be willing to kill those whose minds you can't change. Either that or you don't go to war. But that's just my opinion.

This is war. War brings out the worst in people. When people cross the line, you punish them as an example to others.

By continually harping on this subject, which involved actions repellant by our standards, yet unremarkable by theirs, he is playing into the hands of those who will propagandize on it the more attention is brought to it.

At least that's my opinion.

You are still not aware of what was said in the interviews or you wouldn't be going on like you do. Ah well, continue on making a fool of yourself if you wish.

You're right, I might well not know what your father would think. But on this board he was ALWAYS a cool, analytical, reasonable man. Your reactions hardly meet that standard.
