[history]
May 4, 2004 -- The publisher of Bill Clinton's forthcoming memoir is "despairing" that the ex-president hasn't churned out enough pages - and that the book is too full of self-justification and blaming of others, a new report claims. Clinton has procrastinated writing "My Life" - for which Random House's Alfred A. Knopf imprint paid a reported $12 million - to such an extent that only within recent weeks did he begin jotting down memories of 1998, when he faced impeachment over of his affair with Monica Lewinsky, Vanity Fair says in its new issue.

"There's big pent-up demand for this book, and Vanity Fair is going to feed that maw." Freudian slip?
Correction: Freudian thong?

Clinton [was] trying to get cash from a Chappaqua ATM, unaware that he needed to punch in his PIN number... and invit[ed] two middle-school students to his home, where he talked "about the impact of technology on everyday life." This says volumes about the man. He can't use an ATM but he is willing to teach others about everyday technology.
I can't wait for this guy to go away. [after his book flops during the Dem convention.]

I agree, and also it takes alot of time to lie, lie, lie and try and make himself look good. This man is a total waste, so coniving, so superficial.

inviting two middle-school students to his home Beware Mr. Former President. Look at Michael Jackson. And who will you blame when these young people tell?

I certainly would not let my children go to Bubbas for an afternoon of chat!!! What a horrible man he is!

I don't feel sorry for him at all. This Bill Clinton is the 911 murderer of American innocents along with the ilk of Ms. Jamie Gorelick, etc.! IMHO they should both be treated as they traitors they are!!!!

Other details of Clinton's post-presidential life also are revealed, including his befuddlement with everyday technology such as Palm Pilots, portable phones and ATMs. "I know there's a million dollars in there," Clinton is reported as having said one day when trying to get cash from a Chappaqua ATM, unaware that he needed to punch in his PIN number.
Surely everybody remembers the big stink in the partisan media about former President George HW Bush supposedly being out of touch with ordinary fixtures of American life such as grocery scanners. No doubt we will see similar about Clinton being clueless (not!).

I'd guess the Sinkmeister is used to a lifetime of doing everything half-assed, and having his yes-men (and -women) express great gobs of gratitude over whatever crumbs he bestows upon them.
The idea that a publisher would expect some real effort in return for $12M might be something new for him.

I bet this article refers to "usable" pages. Pages that survive vetting and editing.
While he may have churned out 4000 pages (yellow legal pad, per that USA Today article I linked yesterday), I bet the majority was even worse crap than what ends up between hardcovers.

I'll bet this is some sort of set up to make us conservatives look foolish. It doesn't make conservatives look foolish.

I still think that most of this will have been ghostwritten....I can even give you the name of the ghostwriter. It's Ted Widmer, former speechwriter.
I linked just one article (I've read a few from a few months back)yesterday on a couple threads, that name him as serving as a "sounding board" (uh huh) to Clinton.
I'm too lazy to look up the link this sec, but that's who it is. Ted Widmer.
To: cyncooper
Who has the authorized excerpts when this comes out? Time, Newsweek, or who?
