Supreme Court Justice David Souter suffered minor injuries when a group of young men assaulted him as he jogged on a city street, a court spokeswoman said Saturday. The attack occurred about 9 p.m. Friday, as Souter, a regular jogger, ran alone, court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said.
Supreme Court police took Souter, 64, to a Washington hospital, where he was examined and released about 1 a.m. Saturday, Arberg said. She did not detail his injuries except to say they were minor.
Souter was not robbed, Arberg said.

Sounds like Souter was out cruising for dates and found more than he counted on.

The old saying is a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged, so maybe there's hope for Justice Souter yet.

Must have been Scalia's dons. LOL - they made Souter an offer he couldn't refuse. "Do you want to sleep with the fishes, Davey-Boy"?

Bet you there are plenty around him now! I don't care for many of his opinions, but this is flat wrong. I hope this crime was not related to any pending case.

He claims it was a group of young men. You mean one young man don't you David?

Where were the marshals?Better yet, where are the Secret Service? In this era of Post 9/11, don't we have these people escorted at all times?

How's that old saying go..."a conservative is a former liberal who was mugged."
Let's hope we can sometime soon consider Souter one of the "good guys."

Reminded me of the recent incident involving Kevin Spacey.

This could in theory be good news. You know what they say, that a liberal who gets mugged becomes a conservative. Hope its true.

I wonder if he authored any opinions that were used to free the thugs who attacked him now? We can't be mean to criminals, don't you know?

Protection of Federal judges is the job of the US Marshal Service.
As for the muggers -- bad career move, homies......

Will Souter soon discover a Constitutional 'penumbra right to mug'?

"...Souter, a regular jogger..." I wonder how he keeps from tripping over that robe...
