I am SO ANGRY at Rush Limbaugh right now!! In his last segment he really bashed and basically made fun of people who have Autism or Asperger's Syndrome. He apparently has not done " his homework" on this one.He read from a article, but I didn't hear who had written it. My granddaughter and husband both suffer from Aspergers. It has been a very difficult journey for our daughter and son in law. Rush will get LOTS of angry emails concerning this!!!

I heard him, too. He said it was shyness. It isn't. I have been researching it for personal reasons. The person who has it has A VERY DIFFICULT life and so do the families.

Yep... looks like they've come up with a diagnosis for being a "nerd".
I am a bit of a Star Trek dork myself. Does this mean I qualify for ADA protections and a handicapped parking spot?

I hope you don't hear his "restless leg syndrome" commercial.

If that's the case, Mr. Hannity and I need to have a discussion.
It's very easy to poke fun at kids with these disabilities - even though they're not conveniently obvious about it, and aren't in wheelchairs and leg braces.
Hanity does it. Rush does it. Most FReepers do it.

That list could describe another disease: Liberalism.

Rush's show is delayed here in Austin, so I will listen and see exactly what he said. Will try to get the entire drift of his comments.

Last week, Sean Hannity poo-poo'ed the idea of ADD and claimed it didn't exist. Much of today's diagnosis of ADD may be exaggerated but to dismiss every case is ridiculous. If you were upset by it, I hope you never hear Neal Boortz talk about it. You will likely have a heart attack and die.

And he also said today that Teddy 'Chappaquidic' Kennedy's tirade on the Senate floor was akin to driving drunk with the RAT campaign as passenger as it sunk into the river...ROFLMHO.

Autism Ping.
I heard it too and was somewhat surprised at his callousness. Shyness and Asperger's Syndrome are not the same thing. Saying the name of the syndrome over and over to make it sound like "a**-burger"
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I think he was mocking the companies that now market anti-depressant drugs as anti-shyness drugs.
There are however, many adults who fit the category. Usually they're programming computers!

No. Sadly it doesn't, and it makes for difficult early years.......
Though, the two things they are blessed with (usually) is phenomonal long term memory, and above average IQ.......
So, for them, at least the trade off is more fair than real Autistic children.

socially awkward and clumsy in relations with other children and/or adults naive and gullible
often unaware of others' feelings
unable to carry on a "give and take" conversation
easily upset by changes in routines and transitions
literal in speech and understanding
overly sensitive to loud sounds, lights or odors
fixated on one subject or object
physically awkward in sports
Sounds like a computer geek to me!
