Doesn't Specter have a better chance of beating the Dem challenger in November? If we lose Specter's seat to the Dems we are risking losing our senate majority! And don't tell me that Specter always voted with the Dems anyway, It;'s better to have a Republican voting with the Dems than a Dem voting with the Dems. There are distinct proceduaral advantages to a Repub majoirty in the Senate that go above and beyond winning this or that vote.

How come Bush is supporting Spector when he votes against Bush's judge appointments?
To: Josh in PA
Do you think maybe a lot of Specter's supporters don't know he's in trouble, or are simply more apathetic than Toomey's voters? I hardly hear about a groundswell for Specter, but with Toomey, it's signs, rallies, you name it. Specter's voters must be invisible.

I voted for Toomey and voter turnout in my district was considered light.
This sounds like Good News. Fingers crossed.

I am pro-life and it is my litmus test. HOWEVER, I am also conservative on most issues.
Toomey is conservative!
Specter is liberal!
It's just that simple.
Even if we did not have the disgusting legal abortion, we STILL need to get rid of RINOs. We are losing the Republican Party, folks.

I'm not from PA but strongly support Toomey and have twice sent him donations. Still . . .
The various reports on turnout are interesting, but in all the years I've been following them here at FR, they are invariably the same: "heavy turnout here in our conservative area," "really light in the [insert name of conservative opponent] area."
So I've come to put absolutely no stock in these reports. We'll know soon enough.

I don't necessarily feel like I have a horse in this race, but regardless of his politics, Specter's 24 years in the Senate is about 12 too many.
