NEVER VOTE FOR THESE REPUBLICANS AGAIN (Repost from 1999 - Guess who made the list?)

NEVER VOTE FOR THESE REPUBLICANS:
THE UPDATED STORY

When I first started lurking on FreeRepublic in late ‘98/early ’99 during the Clinton impeachment, one of the big threads was a piece from Freeper “Dead” entitled “NEVER VOTE FOR THESE REPUBLICANS”. It listed the names and titles of the Republicans in Congress who had given Clinton a free pass on every charge during impeachment.

I was inspired to join FR because I too felt the rage over those Republicans who were more concerned about tearing down their own party than doing their duty to hold Clinton accountable. And I also realized I had been duped because I assumed there were “moderate” and “conservative” Democrats in the Senate who would be willing to convict Clinton, only to discover that EVERY SINGLE DEMOCRAT in the Senate had voted in lockstep for Bubba.

Freepers vowed to make a change in Washington, starting with the folks on those lists.

Now, five years later, I’ve checked back at those lists to see what progress we’ve made. Since Republicans have taken over all branches of government (good thing), many freepers have grown complacent and forgotten about dumping the RINOs and Democrat traitors (bad thing). I’m sorry to report that their side (Clinton “legacy” fan club) has removed more house managers than we’ve removed pro-Clinton traitors.

Have we forgotten the principles that launched this website to national fame? In a few days, freepers finally have a chance to purge one of the WORST RINOs on that list and replace with with a true blue conservative IN THE PRIMARY. If we blow this chance, there won’t be another.

In any case, here is DEAD’s original post. And below, you can see my updates on how the key players in Monicagate have fared since then. The list of “honorable” Democrats and Republican traitors seemed to foreshadow a lot, looking at what happened to the Jim Jeffords and Virgil Goodes in D.C.

NEVER VOTE FOR THESE REPUBLICANS (THE LIST)

In the house (they think I’ve already forgotten, but I don’t forget):
Christopher Shays (Connecticut)
Peter King (New York)
Amo Houghton (New York)
Constance Morella (Maryland)

In the Senate:
Arlen Specter (Pennsylvania)
John Chaffee (Rhode Island)
James Jeffords (Vermont)
Olympia Snowe (Maine)
Susan Collins (Maine)

A few good Dems (feel free to vote for the following):
Five Democrats in the House distinguished themselves by voting for at least one article of impeachment. Think long and hard before you vote against them. Be sure that any Republican candidate that runs against them is a man of honor and courage.
Paul McHale (Pennsylvania)
Gene Taylor (Mississippi)
Ralph Hall (Texas)
Charles Stenholm (Texas)
Virgil Goode (Virginia)

And now…. The updated story.

THE GOOD .
These are the leaders who stood up to Bill Clinton back in 1998 and sought to have justice done for the criminal actions that occurred under his watch. They were targeted relentlessly by Democrats and liberals and hounded for speaking the truth. Here’s were they are today.

The House managers:

The Gallent Eight :

These individuals distinguished themselves as members of the House Judiciary Committee. Their actions in the impeachment inquiry brought the impeachment of Bill Clinton to the full house.

The Few Good Dems:

These are the forgotten Democrats in the House distinguished themselves by voting for at least one article of impeachment. Think long and hard before you vote against them. Be sure that any Republican candidate that runs against them is a person of honor and courage.

THE BAD.

The following “Republicans” voted to acquit Clinton on ALL counts.

NEVER, ever vote for these Republicans again. Deny them a chance to even represent their party again. Volunteer to work for any Republican challenger to their nomination. If they are in the general election, skip their name on the ballot or hold your nose and vote third party.

I have never been a "single-issue" voter, but I make an exception for THESE candidates. In any case, the only one who’s even remotely “conservative” is Pete King, and he’s only “conservative” by NY standards (anywhere else in the country, he’d be a moderate)

Print out this list and remember their names. Give copies of this list to your friends.

NEVER VOTE FOR THESE REPUBLICANS (THE ORIGINAL LIST)

In the Senate:

In the house:

AND THE UGLY…

In the Senate

The Senate List of Democrats is simple: EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM MUST BE PURGED. There are NO “conservative” Democrats in the Senate, although there are a handful of “moderates”. Freepers seemed to understand this in 1999 but lately we’ve been hearing what a great guy Ben Nelson is, etc. When it comes down to the CRITICAL votes, ALL Senate Democrats choose party over country. That’s why NOT ONE DEMOCRAT IN THE SENATE VOTED TO REMOVE CLINTON. Even “heroic” Zell Miller NEVER came out in favor of impeachment. Senate Democrats supported a sham trial that cut the House Managers off at the knees by not permitting the systematic presentation and developement of ALL the evidence cannot save them. They are all contemptable cowards who have unforgivably damaged their country. NONE are worthy hold their high office.

The following jellyfish voted for only one article of impeachment. Although it takes only one article to remove a President from office and therefore they are better than a Democrat, it is clear that these officials tried to have it both ways. While they’re acceptable in the general, please try to vote for candidates with more integrity and spine in the primary.

The Senate Republicans who voted AGAINST conviction on perjury (in addition to Specter, Chaffee, Snowe, Collins, and Jeffords who voted no on BOTH counts) were:

The House Republicans who voted AGAINST three out of the four articles of impeachment were:

Let's not forget it takes only 1 article to convict and remove. This "let's get Slade" stuff is absurd”

While I would have been happy if the Senate had tarred and feathered Clinton and run him out of town on a rail, it would have made Gore the incumbent president in the 2000 election. Perhaps that would have been enough to tip the election to Gore, perish the thought.

BillyBoy, thanks for the posting... One of the great things about FreeRepublic is the "institutional memory". Keep these outrages alive -- always to be revisited. Arlen, your days are numbered! Pennsylvania: do your duty!

</font> That's good news. Greenwood has a good challenger this year, There's an outside chance Greenwood could lose -- especially if teh conservative vote comes out to defunct Specter.

Have you forgotten the expression "FBI files"? This isn't tin foil time, it was (is) still very real.

Arlen, your days are numbered!

Appealing scenario to say the least, however always be careful of one's wishes for when granted they may not necessarily become an event to celebrate.

We have to remind ourselves that it's more important to keep the leadership of the House and Senate than get rid of anyone in our party whom we disagree.

If we have to defeat anyone, let's put more of an effort to defeat Dashle, Schumer, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein and clinton.

But, but, "MY PRESIDENT" wants Specter on our team. I will vote for him because Bush says so.

Damned sickening.

Well said S 2.5!

Let's forget the appetizing flavor of the "camp meat" and focus on the flavorless, unpalatable "lunker trophy's" and then stuff 'em and mount 'em! ; )
