Sen. Hillary Clinton appeared Tuesday on CNN's "Larry King Live," and CNN describes an interesting exchange:
The lack of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq contradicts years of intelligence indicating Saddam had such weapons, which also was the conclusion of officials in the Clinton administration.
"The consensus was the same, from the Clinton administration to the Bush administration," she said. "It was the same intelligence belief that our allies and friends around the world shared.
"But I think that in the case of the [Bush] administration, they really believed it. They really thought they were right, but they didn't let enough sunlight into their thinking process to really have the kind of debate that needs to take place when a serious decision occurs like that."
So the Clintonites and the Bushies both said Saddam Hussein has weapons. The difference is that the latter "really believed it." The former didn't really believe it, but they said it anyway. So it turns out it was CLINTON who LIED!!!!

Just AMAZING!
Where does one start with this?
She probably doesn't realize what she admitted to. But hey, don't fret, she'll just lie about what she MEANT to say; not what she actually said. It will probably be chalked up to the "right wing conspiracy" imaging things again.

How prophetic George Orwell was in his book 1984 when he coined the term doublethink..to hold two contradictory ideas in your head at one time and sincerely believe both of them.

"But I think that in the case of the [Bush] administration, they really believed it. I think she misspoke. I think what she really meant to say was that Bush believed it, took it seriously and decided to act on it rather than just hoping it would go away as Clinton did. Bush was willing to gamble politically and do the right thing. Clinton knew the polls did not favor an invasion and would have never considered it. In fact Bush probably wouldn't have either if not for 9/11.

Perhaps. But Bush acted after one terrorist attack on this country during his watch. Clinton had numerous occassions to do the same thing as President Bush but refused. I read a Steyn article today whereas he mentions someone who worked all his life to gain political office but had no ideas on what to do once he got there. Same with Clinton. No heart. President Bush has done just about everything that is against the wishes of Americans but he does it because he wants to protect this country. People realize this.

If Hillary hangs around sKerry much more, so much flip-flopping kharma will rub off on her that she may just shoot her 2008 prospects all to hell. Wouldn't that be a shame? :)

"they really believed it"The Clintons have so many pretended beliefs that real belief startles them.

I think he would have
Remember Rice's statement that Bush said "He was tired of swatting flies " meaning he was going to go after the source and that didn't mean firing off Cruise Missles

I might add whether the public would have supported his plans without 911 is another matter
Unfortunatley most people can only make decisions when hit emotionally hard and not without it

No kidding. I just can't stop shaking my head... this stuff is too surreal to make up. The more amazing part of it is that the DUers "...actually believe it...." and ask not questions when this stuff comes out of HC's mouth. How sad, sad, sad, sad. The Clintonites and their kind, know how dumb most Dems in the rank and file are, that's why they don't worry about these outrageous comments. They have been dumming down their followers in public schools for years and DEPEND on that stupidity to keep them going. God help us.

HAH. Perhaps hillary clinton is spending a little too much time in the sunlight.

The serious debate was not about whether the WMD exsisted or not, but what action should be taken, whether or not the intelligence was *actionable*. For the self serving like the Clintons, it was actionable when there is a need of a distraction, which brought us the impeachment wag the dog "retaliation". For a servant of the people, post 911 Bush, it's something else. It becomes the need to take the fight to those who threaten us.
