Sad news.

Why does God let MEN like this die young and jackasses like Ted "the drunk" Kennedy live an eternity(on earth)?
I pondered this question watching a friends child die of cancer. Why? Why was this happening? She was so young. So full of life. She fought to the bitter end. I can still see her small, frail body with her beautiful angelic face laying in he white casket.
The only answer I can come up with is that God takes the special ones sooner. And He uses these special ones to teach us something when he does.

They are building a new one in Glendale, AZ for the Cards. Either that one or Sun Devil Stadium should be (re)named for him. It will remain to be seen.

What a beautiful man. I shouldn't (I suppose) but I have a lot of hatred for the barbarians in that region. 10 million of them aren't worth one of our people. I admire the restraint of the people in charge-- I don't know If I could hold back. I feel terrible sayin these things, but it's how I feel.

But they're needed - and missed - here. Yes to both. They have shown us the way. They are our leaders.
There are stars up above
So far away we only see their light
Long, long after the star itself is gone
And so it is with people that we loved
Their memories keep shining
Ever brightly though their time with us is done
But the stars that light up the darkest night
These are the lights that guide us
As we live our days
These are the ways we remember. -- Hannah Senesh

Cat,
I think Pat would understand, and I hope he would approve of the President making a statement about his life and his service.
In a way, Pat can and will continue to serve even though he has reached his eternal home.
A statement about Pat's integrity of spirit and purposefulness of action would help the soldiers in the field - and would help those who haven't reconciled their desire to serve v. their desire to live a normal life make the choice.
At a time when people are thinking that we might need to return to the draft (oral flatulence that it is) a story about a great man who could have chosen to live the life most young men dream of, and chose instead to serve his nation might be the thing to steel their nerves and get them down to the recruiting station.
If we are indeed having difficulties recruiting, I don't think Pat would mind a telling of his life's story added to a speech where the President asks for others to follow his example and become men of purpose, integrity, and honor.
I pray that those who hear his story understand the sacrifice and the purpose of it, and I pray for his family.
May God Bless you Pat, Thanks.

Yep - I'll tell you the man is an egomaniac of the highest degree. It ruined football here for a long time...
I hope he does something honorable -- it's his chance to redeem himself a little.
PAt Tillman -- and all our soldiers -- are heroes...God bless them ALL!!

"Why does God let MEN like this die young and jackasses like Ted "the drunk" Kennedy live an eternity(on earth)?"
Because God writes the script, and He happens to be the best Poet by bringing about a greater good from this "seemingly" injustice.
Look at the contrast: Mutltimillion dollar players who cry and whine about everything under the sun.......against the backdrop of an unselfish man who walked away from Millions to serve his country only to lose his life for defense of our Nation.
PLEASE DEAR GOD, LET THIS STORY BE TRUMPETED FROM THE MOUNTAINTOPS!!!!!

Yes, it does. For the right reasons.
Not to diminish the contributions all who sacrifice make, but at the onset of casualties, there was alot of sniping, giving the impression that many had come to think of the service as a College aid or Jobs program without giving real thought as to what they were getting into.
Here, you had a man, with a career 99.9% can only dream of, making millions of dollars a year, and he walked away to do what he thought was right, fully knowing what he was getting into.
Ironic isn't it. During the last administration, it used to be said, that only in America could a draft dodger sleep IN the White House while a Veteran sleeps on the strets in front of it, and Now, we lost a man that gave up a lucrative career, to serve in the war, while a guy that served in the war as a stepping stone to a political career runs for the WH.
