Terri Schiavo has not had visitors in 24 days. Terri has also been held prisoner in a single hospice room, unable to go outside for 1,473 days. Seeing those numbers really hit home with me. So I called Governor Bush. I said, "Terri Schiavo has not had visitors in 24 days. She's been imprisoned in her room for 1,473 days. She's a prisoner and she's in danger. Have the Governor or DCF take guardianship of her." Tomorrow I will call the Governor's office again and say, "Terri Schiavo has not had visitors in 25 days. She's been imprisoned in her room for 1,474 days. She's a prisoner and she's in danger. Have the Governor or DCF take guardianship of her." And so begins Project Annoying Empathy. Everyday I'm going to call the Governor's office and remind them how long Terri's been mistreated. I'll remind them that although they will allowed go outside today and they may see their loved ones, Terri will not. She's not a patient. She's a prisoner. She's in danger. She need the Governor's assistance to reclaim her rights as a human being. I am going to call them everyday. I've said my thank yous with all my heart to the Governor for Terri's Law, but there's a clause in that law for guardianship. He needs to use it. Who knows what stunts Michael might pull next. Any of you that want to join me, come on! The Governor's office number is 850-488-4441. Yes, this is a tad ridiculous, but so is allowing a disbled woman to be locked up like a criminal. It might not accomplish anything, but I can't just continue to do nothing. Maybe the numbers will strike a chord. Thank you SO much for the update on Terri in post #23,
and for post #40(how Freeper's can best help right now).

It has been so easy lately to get discouraged because of the
news blackout, denied visitations, the obvious court
corruption, and out-of-control U.S. Catholic Bishops
overrun by the loony left.

I was especially heartened to hear that state inspector(s)
have done one or more spontaneous inspection(s), and
checked in on Terri! And her new high tech bed is great
news too.

Hopefully Michael and the Nursing home will both feel MUCH
too much heat to risk harming her any further at this point.

And prayers for Judge Baird to do the right thing. Many
are suspecting he will rule tomorrow.

Jeb Bush can do more for Terri. And I'm going to see to it in the best manner I can that he does what he can to help her. 1474 days now without being able to go outside? That's the pit of hell. Bush can spare her from that. If you don't recognize that, you shouldn't speak.

A pit of hell? So, you wanted Terri's Law and now that is not good enough? she lives in hell because of a law that so many people fought for?

She is in a pit of hell because she is controlled by an evil person and has not yet been rescued. Over 18 months ago, the parents filed papers to challenge Michael's guardianship on the basis that his actions demonstrate, at the very least, clear and material conflicts of interest with regard to Terri's care (and very likely demonstrable malfeasance as well). The various other emergency measures that have been sought have been to try to prevent Michael Schiavo from rendering the guardianship issue moot by killing his wife first.

I don't think any of us can say with certainty that Terri would recover to some degree if normal function if removed from Michael's control. In fact, most of us here probably think that's unlikely. Numerous affidavits suggest strongly, however, that Michael has not only failed to do anything that might promote Terri's recovery, but he's also worked hard to prevent it. His actions clearly suggest that he does not want Terri's condition to improve.

To be sure, affidavits are generally not admissible into evidence in and of themselves. That's what depositions and trials are for. Unfortunately, Michael has actively worked to prevent any depositions which would but certain facts admissibly into the record.

I don't know that Terri's life would necessarily be pleasant even were she given the best of care. I do know, however, that the only reason her existence is as miserable as it is, is that Michael Schiavo has tried to make it that way.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You are mindful of our heartbreak on behalf of this mother's child. You have gently placed our beloved Terri on the best bed that technology can provide ... how like You, Gracious God, to bestow such a gift when things appear quite dark. Thank You that she has had visitation from those who are charged with her care ... may the merchants of death withdraw in fear of what You are doing on her behalf. Continue to stand guard over her in her loneliness unto the time of reunion with her family. Speak to her dad and her mom with such clarity and reassurance that soon they can again be with their dear child. We praise You and thank You, Living Lord, for Your goodness and mercy, in the Name of Jesus, Amen ...

Freepin, I'm a little concerned about calling the governor every day. No one needs to get in trouble over this, and I'm concerned that this might backfire. In principle, I am with you 100%; however I worry that the governor could get testy. He is doing more than I thought possible.

Is it possible to take your idea to public billboards? Change the dates every day. Pretty soon, passerby's will become accustomed to seeing the days racking up, and maybe we can get more people to take a stand. Hopefully not too many more days will be added to the total; however the way things are going, maybe public shame is the only way left.

All this would cost money, which I am in very short supply of. I wish I could donate money to several projects. Jim Stein has done some awesome ads. Putting a short ad on local Fl channels would be an option. Just a 30 second ad with a pic of Terri, fading out to a countdown like you described. No voiceovers, or anything. Just the countdown, updated daily. I think it might be a better way of getting this message across.

Her new bed is wonderful news. It's about time that she be provided just a little comfort.
