Thank you SO much for the update on Terri in post #23,
and for post #40(how Freeper's can best help right now).

It has been so easy lately to get discouraged because of the
news blackout, denied visitations, the obvious court
corruption, and out-of-control U.S. Catholic Bishops
overrun by the loony left.

I was especially heartened to hear that state inspector(s)
have done one or more spontaneous inspection(s), and
checked in on Terri! And her new high tech bed is great
news too.

Hopefully Michael and the Nursing home will both feel MUCH
too much heat to risk harming her any further at this point.

And prayers for Judge Baird to do the right thing. Many
are suspecting he will rule tomorrow.

Thanks for pinging me, FL.

Freepin, I'm a little concerned about calling the governor every day. No one needs to get in trouble over this, and I'm concerned that this might backfire. In principle, I am with you 100%; however I worry that the governor could get testy. He is doing more than I thought possible.

Is it possible to take your idea to public billboards? Change the dates every day. Pretty soon, passerby's will become accustomed to seeing the days racking up, and maybe we can get more people to take a stand. Hopefully not too many more days will be added to the total; however the way things are going, maybe public shame is the only way left.

All this would cost money, which I am in very short supply of. I wish I could donate money to several projects. Jim Stein has done some awesome ads. Putting a short ad on local Fl channels would be an option. Just a 30 second ad with a pic of Terri, fading out to a countdown like you described. No voiceovers, or anything. Just the countdown, updated daily. I think it might be a better way of getting this message across.

Her new bed is wonderful news. It's about time that she be provided just a little comfort.

Thanks for the ping, FL_e. I am glad to hear about Terri's bed, too.

I noticed some "removed by moderator" posts.

In a different message which may be on a different thread, in response to a comment I made a few days ago about what I really think, you (FL) said "Try me".

That's not so easy. I'll give you a very short version.

When I first started reading about Terri, my reaction was that the feeding tube should get pulled. I would not want my life to be extended by artificial means, and that's the way I looked at it.

I have since turned 180 degrees on this. I think removing her feeding tube would be tantamount to murder.

This is a complicated thing.

I think I could kill someone in self-defense. I would not want to, but I could do it and not regret it. Not much.

The worst decision I ever made, however, was for my wife (and I) to get an abortion one time when an unexpected preganacy ocurred. I feel that decision was evil. I wish I could take it back.

I think removing Terri's feeding tube would be about the same as that.

I also think that if Michael kicked in and cared for her -- held her hand, spent time with her, talked to her, etc -- she might stand a chance of improving. With him not doing that, it is essentially the same as removing her tube.

I consider that to be immoral.

The state inspections and high tech bed, are indeed good news. Thank you for the ping and for all the good you have done for Terri. You and so many others on this board should be commended for your fine work. It is tremendously comforting to know you are all fighting for her with such tenacity and diligence. Terri ever remains in my prayers as do you all who have stood up so well for her!

As always, thanks for the ping.

...and out-of-control U.S. Catholic Bishops overrun by the loony left.

Recently, the Pope specifically said that it is immoral to withhold nourishment and hydration to anyone who is debilitated, and not dying. I haven't heard anything from the Bishop of Terri's diocese, or the Bishops of Florida. I think I'll pay a visit to the diocesan website....

For the record, no updates related to the Pope's statement, on either the Diocese of St. Petersburg, or the Florida Bishops Conference.

BTW, there are many "Pleas for Mercy," requesting stays of execution. They couldn't do a "Plea for Mercy" on Terri's behalf, however.
