Hamtramck,Mich.--Over some residents' objections, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to allow a mosque to send out a call to prayer to Muslims on a loudspeaker....five times a day.

I am apalled, but how did it happen? Is the local islamic population large enough for a mandate? If not, then the people who oppose it deserve what they get for not standing up. Ain't unchecked immigration a wonderful thing?

Are there any schools within the range of the loud speakers? If so, then this is bringing "religion" into the classsrooms and school yards. They sure wouldn't allow a Christian church to broadcast across the street from a school.

Well, there it is. The God I worship forgives sin. If this happened in my town he would forgive the sin of shooting the offending loudspeakers off the mosques.

Christians in Hamtramck should respond with appropriate hymns. The pre-Vatican II Poles would know

Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!

(I imagine John Sobieski would have known that hymn.) Or to be more ecumenical, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God...

Agree on what CDs to use, synchronize watches, and let the Moslems know where we stand.

Oh, I know how it ends. But until then there is a lot of time for those to "fall away." There are still many I am sure who have not heard the "good word" and thus can be sway by the promises and lies of Islam.

When I was growing up, during the Christmas Holidays, various church groups would drive through town playing Christmas hymns over loud speakers on the back of a truck. One of these should be parked in front of the Mosque and played five times a day.

Without the meteorite, you might could call that a religion but it would be a stretch; WITH the meteorite, it's a form of idolatry.

Excellent point. But you might be more likely to succeed in mucking the effort up by filing a suit on bahalf of all deaf muslems in the area, that being that the Americans with Disabilities Act should mandate giant billboard size widescreen broadcasts so the deaf can enjoy full participation in calls to prayer, having hand signed calls to prayer simulcast.

It will tie the whole mess up until a new council can be voted in.
