A pressing issue of dinner-party etiquette is vexing Washington, according to a story now making the D.C. rounds: How should you react when your guest, in this case national-security adviser Condoleezza Rice, makes a poignant faux pas? At a recent dinner party hosted by New York Times D.C. bureau chief Philip Taubman and his wife, Times reporter Felicity Barringer, and attended by Arthur Sulzberger Jr., Maureen Dowd, Steven Weisman, and Elisabeth Bumiller, Rice was reportedly overheard saying, As I was telling my husb and then stopping herself abruptly, before saying, As I was telling President Bush. Jaws dropped, but a guest says the slip by the unmarried politician, who spends weekends with the president and his wife, seemed more psychologically telling than incriminating. Nobody thinks Bush and Rice are actually an item. A National Security Council spokesman laughed and said, No comment.

I was thinking the same thing. They are all vicious liberals. They hate President Bush and all he stands for.

As I was telling my husb and then stopping herself abruptly, before saying, As I was telling President Bush. Jaws dropped.... This is beyond stupid. As if a person having an affair with a married man would accidentally call him "my husband".
This isn't even worthy of the National Enquirer.

It could be fabricated, but it doesn't matter. It won't hurt her. Heck, it won't hurt anyone.
Even young schoolchildren occassionally slip and call their teachers "mother."
It's harmless, regardless of the press's intentions.

So Cheney has a press conference with GW at his side saying "While I am in good as health as I can be, the stress of the job can be at times taxing. That is why I asked the President to reconsider me as his running mate."
"It was my decision, it has nothing to do with politics but with my personal health."
Then GW says, "I could not convince him otherwise, I have respect for Dick on this issue and I will honor his decision. I would therefore like to announce that Condi Rice accepted my offer to be my Vice President. And Dick Cheney has accepted the job at NSA."
GW.."I will take some questions now."
(One would hear a rumble as dems all over D.C. were having coronaries, hearts in unison making pops that merge into that rumble as they EXPOLDE.)

Just damn.

Oh, FGS. Now, if that isn't reaching, I don't know what is. Dr Rice has the cocktail party circuit, style over substance crowd baffled. They've apparently never known a young woman as smart and accomplished as she iis who didn't have some flaws. When they aren't able to find them, they speculate. Endlessly. LOL.

If true it might suggest that Bush and Condi are very close though not an item. I actually find that rather endearing myself.

That list reads like a who's who among slimebucket reporters.

Dr. Rice seems too smart to make a slip like that. I don't believe it. The Dem's would do anything to bring her down, including creating a false scandal.
