Where: Washington, DC
When: Sunday, Sept 12, 2004 2:00-4:00 PM (EDT)
Why: To tell the truth about Vietnam veterans. To counter the lies told about Vietnam veterans by John Kerry
GROUND RULES
1. This is a peaceful remembrance of the virtues of those with whom we served in Vietnam - those who lived and those who died. We will tell their story and how that contrasts with the label of war criminals given them by John Kerry in his infamous 1971 testimony.
2. No shouting or contact with others with different opinions: we fought for their rights then, and we respect their rights now.
3. We do not invite or affiliate with any organization, but all Vietnam veterans and their families are invited as individuals.
4. Politics: this is NOT a pro-Bush rally. Republican, Democrat and independent Vietnam veterans are welcome as brothers and sisters. Veterans of other wars and eras are invited as honored guests. Others concerned about how John Kerry vilified Vietnam veterans are warmly invited. Our gathering is to remember those with whom we served, thereby giving the lie to John Kerry's smear against a generation of fine young men.
5. B.G. "Jug" Burkett, author of "Stolen Valor," will speak at our event. Jug has debunked countless imposters who falsely claimed to be Vietnam veterans or falsely claimed awards. Jug recommends we refrain from dragging fatigues out of mothballs. Please dress properly and leave the imposters to dress as former soldiers.
Dress code: Business casual - nice slacks and shirt and shoes, coat and tie optional. Special Requests: NO UNIFORM REMNANTS, NO UNIFORMS UNLESS ON ACTIVE DUTY Hats, such as VFW, American Legion, unit hats, etc., OK. If you have your DD214, bring a copy in your pocket. 6. Selected members will wear badges identifying them as authorized to speak to the press about our event. Others who speak to the press will speak only for themselves.
7. The program will be controlled in an attempt to stay on message. Speakers are encouraged not to engage in speculative criticism of John Kerry, but they are encouraged to (a) stick to known and undisputed facts about John Kerry while (b) reminding America of the true honor and courage of our brothers in battle in Vietnam.
8. Make this event one of pride in America, an event you would be proud to have your mother or your young children attend.

Thanks, pookie. I will try to make this one, just because I am so sick of seeing those "Bush Lies/Who Dies?" stickers pasted all over New York City.

Kerry essentially admitted today on Meet the Press that he lied about Viet Nam in 1971.

No one will care. Now had Bush lied about his Alabama Air Nat'l Guard service, they'd want to impeach him ;-)

The screws need to be tightened. This b*stard and his lies need to be nailed down FIRMLY.

We should all remember that liberals are famous for "projection". That is where they project upon conservatives that which they are in fact, actually guilty of.
When Kerry says that US Soldiers committed attrocities over in Vietnam, I believe him. I think that HE committed attrocities and the only way he can live with himself is to assume that others did and he was just part of a larger problem.
When Democrats said that anyone who opposed Clinton "hated him" I was always baffled. I didn't hate Clinton. I was disgusted by him. I was repelled by him. But I didn't hate him. It is now clear why they did that... THEY HATE anyone they disagree with, so they assume that we do too.
Projection; We must rememember this because it will provide us a clue as to what they are up to. Whatever they claim we are doing, THEY are doing.

Please dress properly and leave the imposters to dress as former soldiers. I agree with this assessment. Yet I remember with vivid disgust a 1973 base directive (Lejeune) recommending civilian clothes while stateside, off-base out-of-area.
As a single instance which still sits unsettled, I remember most commercial airlines gave all "in-uniform" military personnel airfare discounts back then.
I also remember not many of us took advantage of this discount because it just wasn't worth the vilification.
I wore my uniform with pride.

Do you accept this apology? Every Veteran should know....
John F Kerry's JANE FONDA LIKE APOLOGY:
Meet The Press April 18, 2004
".....It was, I think, a reflection of the kind of times we found ourselves in and I don't like it when I hear it today. I don't like it, but I want you to notice that at the end, I wasn't talking about the soldiers and the soldiers' blame, and my great regret is, I hope no soldier--I mean, I think some soldiers were angry at me for that, and I understand that and I regret that, because I love them. But the words were honest but on the other hand, they were a little bit over the top...."

This IS a good idea. Do keep it apolitical to prevent it getting perverted by the press or the jacques strap kerry campaign.
