This hasn't hit the mainstream press yet and you will be reading about it from bonafide, FR approved press sources soon, but for now all the "press" that is covering it is Indymedia, which is banned from FR, so I had to use the offical event website, which contains some mild nude photos.
The local lib-wacko message boards are being spammed with links to this event. If you are shy, please don't click on the link.
So far the US cities listed as having an offical event are as follows: Chicago, New York City, Seattle, Portland, Asheville, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco.
In Asheville, NC the police are having discussions as to if they will turn the other cheek (Sorry, had to say it) or have arrests.
Hell in a handbasket.

This is not the Asheville where I grew up... but then again Raleigh is not the town where I took up residence in 1966 either!

"Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin' world go round..." (P.S. Though dollars to doughnuts, you'll find more gays doing this than anyone else. You know, "merchandise-on-parade" sort of thing.)

"So, why doesn't LE arrest them the moment they pull their stuck skin off their car seats before they even get out to the parade?"
You ARE KIDDING RIGHT???? This IS Seattle....does that about a"cover" it:? (pun intended)
See below a link to the 2003 Solstice Parade:

You wonder just when the citizens of Asheville (and by that I mean the
natives, not the halfbacks or the hippies) will reach their breaking point. I figured once they voted out that 60s throwback Leni Beatnick, I mean Sitnick, it would at least ratchet down a bit. But oh no, now we've got nekkid bicycle riding. Won't be a major fuss raised in Asheville over this. But let some anti-homosexual Christian protestors try to march as they did a few years back and one would think the world was coming to an end. Maybe News 13 could send one of their reporters out to participate. Say Darcel Grimes. That would shut the whole event down right there ;)
NC ping. I'd take living next to Carrboro Community College anyday of the week compared to the fruitloops in Asheville

"It's rather difficult to see this taking place in Asheville."
In the past 10 years Asheville has become the counter-culture capital of the East Coast.

Indeed. It's a far cry from what it was just 20 years ago.

Just great. Here in Minneapolis, you can't walk anywhere without some idiot on his bike running you down (they're the same people who still have their "Wellstone!" signs out). Now, I'm going to have to worry about some idiot running me down AND flapping his genitals at me.

Interestingly, I'm counting on Asheville as the key to my getting elected to Congress. The Dem/libs there and in Clay County (Cherokee Reservation) can be counted on to nominate yet another wholly-owned subsidiary of the "edukashun" unions.
So, my task is (tough odds) just to beat the seven-term incumbent in the primary. The general election would be a walk in the park. But if I do well but don't win in 2004, I should be in the catbird seat for 2006. The incumbent will not last forever.
I'm not even going to do any mass mailing in Asheville. Not worth the stamps. LOL.

To: The Other Harry
Yes, I intend to declare officially on 1 May, ironically in Asheville. LOL. I'm not an OFFICIAL candidate until I file certain required papers. That's what I'm doing now.

Give this five years and next they'll be organizing National Public Sex Act Day. Concur. Bump for possible Caption-A-Rama fodder.

Sorry if you've answered this previously -- probably a bazillion times -- but: what are your principal beefs with the Republican incumbent there in the 11th?
(... for I assume you're going to file to challenge Taylor in the GOP primary, as opposed to filing to be on the ballot or "authorized write-ins" list.)

I bring more energy, knowledge and creativity to the task than the incumbent. But my campaign will be entirely positive -- who I am and what I offer, rather than what's wrong with the incumbent.
The reason for that is quite simple. His career is coming to its end. Mine is just beginning. But if he and I get into a cat fight, it may hand the job to a liberal Democrat. Rather than do that, I can run twice, in 2004 and 2006.
Does that make sense to you?
