WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Jamie Gorelick, a member of the commission investigating the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, said Saturday that she received death threats this week after a number of conservatives alleged that her former work in the Justice Department may have contributed to failures leading to the attacks.
In the mid-1990s, Gorelick served as deputy attorney general of the United States. During that time, she wrote a memorandum establishing distinctions between intelligence that could be used for law-enforcement purposes and intelligence that could be used for national security purposes.
That separation was originally required as a safeguard against abuse of citizens' rights by government investigative agencies. But passage of the Patriot Act in the wake of the attacks eliminated the requirement.
The so-called "wall" governing intelligence uses has been a key subject at hearings of the commission. It has been blamed for being a main obstacle to better sharing of information in connection with the September 11 attacks.
"I can confirm that I've received threats at my office and my home," she told CNN on Saturday. "I did get a bomb threat to my home."
She added, "I have gotten a lot of very vile e-mails. The bomb threat was by phone."
ABC News first reported the story Saturday.

"Gorlick doesn't have anything to fear from us."
Then why waste all the time making veiled threats? It's just a little 'sport' - right? Just 'toying' with the rat - like a cat.

Phone rings a woman voice says Hello and another woman voice on the line;Jamie this is Hillary hey gal you are in the hot seat.Let me tell you how to cool them off just say you got a death threat from the VRWC it works every time for me.Make sure you say it the Vrwc ok see ya.
If gorelick was not so left wing and the cover up for the clintons she would not have a problem.Close the commission down or fire gorelick she is the trouble not the commission.

"I despise Gorelick as much as anybody, but there is absolutely NO excuse for making death threats to her. I applaud anyone who uses verbal argument against her and her ilk, but I deplore physical threats. It should be beneath us. It puts those who make threats on the level of the DUers."
In all due respect, I'd be hard-pressed to believe these 'threats' without seeing the evidence. She's a known to lie and decieve when it advances her purposes. And even if it is ttue, why do you assume it is from 'us'?

Do you really believe this story? This is exactly what Tom Daschle was whining about when something didn't go his way. Libs love to play the victim, but only other libs believe them. Unless there is evidence of an attempt on their lives, I don't.

The last time I checked, I have not fallen off any turnip trucks. There is no need for that kind of response.
I amended my comments to "if" she was threatened.
In addition, I do not deplore action against enemies. I am strongly in favor of the appropriate action. I applauded the Israeli response to killing the Hamas leader. I am 100% in favor of our actions in Iraq.
Perhaps she was not threatened, but the original poster appeared to have condoned threats to her and that is what I was responding to.
I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me or with others, but come on, try a little civility.

BTW, only a moron would email or telephone a death threat to this woman. That makes a lot of sense. Hopefully, there aren't any conservatives that are that moronic. If there are, they should be disowned.

Who's making veiled threats? I can only speak for myself, of course, but she's much more effective as an example of absolute government corruption. And the fact that she's sitting on the 911 commission just enhances it's lack of authority to blame the current leadership for anything. So let her cry and whine, I'll just sit over here in internet land and laugh! If something does happen to her, you can bet that she's just the next victim in the Clinton Body Count.

Subtracting the families of the 6 or so professional mourners, there are still some 2994 families who may have a bone to pick with her. Some may even get really ugly or stupid about it.

Isn't it surprising that CNN hasn't even REPORTED the Gorelick controversy until they could make some "victim sob story" out of it. They are saying that a controversey that they DIDN'T EVEN REPORT is big enough to cause death threats.
Physical threats against her are totally petty and counterproductive.. but it is very telling that CNN didn't report the conflict of interest controversey until this happened.

Let's not be so hyper sensitive, shall we? I can handle a little sarcasm when it is aimed at me, with no hurt feelings on my part-I just assume that other's skin's are as thick as mine.
If Gorelicker was threatened as she claims, it is highly unlikely that the threat came from anywhere but her fellow buffoons of the left.
Are you familar with how involved in the mishandling of events leading up to 911 Gorelicker was personally responsible for. Do you realize that the only reason the Dems. appointed her to the committee is to ensure that she would never have to testify?
If you are indeed a Conservative Republican, rather than a democrat sleeper plant-have a little faith in the integrity of your fellow Republicans. The bad guys are on the left, where Jaimie Gorelick hangs her bonnet.

The liberals democrats have no fear in printing threats in their paper. And this is a democratic party organize club. It remind me of organize crime. The only problem is, this party or group of thugs are running the country.
And this is the mind set of the next democrat who make it to the oval office? I take it, the democrat's club members are determine not let Rumsfeld resign, as an option, TO BEING SHOT, when Bush leaves the whitehouse.

No hurt feelings. I just thought that since I had modified my statement many posts ago that you should have taken that into account.
I have no doubt that Gorelick is quite capable of lying about it. I also may well have fallen into the trap of believing what I read.
Again, my reaction was not so much to the story as it was to the "seeming" approval of threats against her.
I think she should be completely and totally discredited. I want her removed from the commission and have stated so on this forum.
If you think I might be something other than a conservative Republican, then perhaps I can interest you in a turnip from that truck I fell off of.
