Rush: Gorelick Quietly Asked By Kean To Resign!
Rush Limbaugh Radio Show ^ | 4/16/04 | LS

Posted on 04/16/2004 10:30:35 AM PDT by LS

According to an article Rush just read, Jamie Gorelick was quietly asked by Commission Chairman Thomas Kean to resign from the 9/11 commission due to conflict of interest. According to an unnamed staffer, she refused. Should we start a poll on how long she lasts?

Commissioners say that if she resigns there would be other resignations.

They were talking about this on Fox and Friends this morning. They said this would open a whole can of worms but never expounded on it. What else is the commission hiding from us? (Ofcourse, I do realize none of it is any of OUR business as we have been told by the "honorable" Mr. Kean.)

Kean's tainted, as well.
He in effect pissed off the entire country with his arrogant self-serving remark, and now he is in the cross-hairs.

She won't go because she doesn't care - he'll end the Commission to keep himself from being scrutinized further.

From your link:

It isn't just Gorelick who is now in hot water. Based on their remarks on Wednesday and Thursday, both Kean and fellow commissioner, former Sen. Slade Gorton are taking heat from 9/11 families for telling critics during TV interviews to stay "out of our business."

Good for them, the 9/11 Families!!!!!!

If that is the case, then the D.C. Chapter of stealth activists gets the credit. They've been seriously representing this week at the Commission.

But according to former Clinton staffers, it's doubtful Gorelick will budge. "She's on that commission for a reason, and it isn't because of her brilliant legal mind," says a former DNC and Clinton White House staffer. "She's there to make sure Bush and his team look as bad as possible and to protect the Clintons and Reno."

I agree with that, but I don't think it's the most important reason she's there.

The most important reason shehe's there, imho, is because it is part of a pre-planned conspiracy to take her beyond the reach of the questioning of the commission. Her presence there is too neat, too suspicious.

Where there's smoke.....

The was no accident. And it also says that she's a part of other things far worse that COULD come out if only right people asked the right questions.

Absolutely - she must not be allowed to resign and slink away. She must testify. Instead of pulling the plug on this Circus of Commissars, we need more exposure of them, their connections and arrogance (such as Keane's comments about it not being our business!)

I'm beginning to wonder what mental illness afflicts so many Republican members of Congress.

It's called reelection.

According to a Republican staffer on the 9/11 commission, growing public and pundit outrage over commissioner Jamie Gorelick's failure to disclose the existence of a Justice Department memo, had chairman Gov. Tom Kean asking Gorelick yesterday morning if she would think about stepping aside.

"The word is she was asked whether she might consider it and she flat out shut him down," said the staffer. "We're in an extremely difficult spot on this."

Gorelick's conflict of interest came to light on Tuesday afternoon, when a newly declassified 1995 Justice Department memo written by her when she was serving as Deputy Attorney General was presented to the commission by Attorney General John Ashcroft during public testimony. The memo, which mandated policy that, as it turned out, made it almost impossible for counter-terrorism investigators to pursue the 9/11 plot before it unfolded, surprised Gorelick's fellow commissioners and staff because, staffers said, she never disclosed its existence to any of them.

Kean's quiet attempt to press the issue on Gorelick's situation comes at a time when there were mounting calls for the former Clinton political operative to step aside from not only the House Judiciary Committee chairman James Sensenbrenner but families of 9/11 victims concerned that the commission's report would be tainted by her presence.

Those families were also calling for Gorelick to be called before the committee to explain her role in devising a legal impediment that contributed to the intelligence and law enforcement failures to combat and prevent terrorist acts.

It isn't just Gorelick who is now in hot water. Based on their remarks on Wednesday and Thursday, both Kean and fellow commissioner, former Sen. Slade Gorton are taking heat from 9/11 families for telling critics during TV interviews to stay "out of our business."

Those remarks came in response to questions about Gorelick's conflict of interest.

"We've got to get these guys out of the limelight," says the Republican 9/11 staffer. "Kean has enjoyed the media spotlight a little too much. Remember, most of these guys are has-beens. They haven't experienced this much attention in years. In a matter of two days they have managed to undo six months of good work that was done under the radar screen. A few more days of this and the commission's work will be tainted."

This is no surprise. The woman is an outright LIAR. she denies she wrote the memo. there is no reason to assume she has any level of integrity. by merely asking and not demanding she resign Kean is demonstrating he doesn't care, either, while the rest of her brethren on the commission circle the wagons to protect her, and thus the commission has no integrity.

Is she on this panel to protect Clinton?

Not only is she there to protect Xlinton, she's there to ensure this thing does not come near the whole administration. They are still making up his legacy dontcha know, and, treason, bribery and incompetence don't have a wing in his Presidential library.

The funny thing is, they all stood by this liar and, now they have play "coverup" and spin events for the rest of their lives in order to make themselves credible. All in service for a man who does not give two rips about them.

Kean is a scumbag.........since she HASN'T resigned.

Good analysis. Gorelick is hiding something for pernicious than we can imagine.

As O'Reilly has said many times, powerful people protect each other. Both Republican and Democratic leaders don't have the stomach for a real investigation of 9-11.

I would bet Gorelick regrets ever being nasty about or to John Ashcroft.

lol.

John declassified one document and reveals a whole underlying ugly truth Gorelick, et. al., were hiding.
