According to an article Rush just read, Jamie Gorelick was quietly asked by Commission Chairman Thomas Kean to resign from the 9/11 commission due to conflict of interest. According to an unnamed staffer, she refused. Should we start a poll on how long she lasts?

She will never resign. It is not the Clintonista way.
Whatever the commission finally comes up with will be flawed in any case. Its too late to put the toothpaste back into the tube. What was supposed to be a non-partisan effort to fix problems has simply become a victim of the same old shenanigans.

Is she on this panel to protect Clinton?I don't think there is any doubt that she is on the commission for that purpose only. Anyone stupid enough to have written that "wall memo" and be sitting where she is, cannot be there for legitimate purposes.
Either she had a serious brain cramp or she is a toon and NY witch plant.

She's bucking for a job in the Kerry Administration, no doubt. If she resigns in the midst of a high-profile controversy, she becomes damaged goods for any new government job.

Senator Hatch strikes out againSen. Orrin G. Hatch, Utah Republican, who is Mr. Sensenbrenner's counterpart in the Senate, defended Ms. Gorelick. "I know and respect Jamie Gorelick," he said. "I trust she will do the right thing regarding any conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest regarding her continuing service on the 9/11 commission."
A spokeswoman for Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, South Dakota Democrat, said her boss "agrees with Chairman Kean that the attacks are baseless, and he supports Gorelick."
To: LS
Hey, she's a lawyer who knew she shouldn't have been on the commission in the first place. She'll leave when the dems tell her to and not a minute sooner.

I agree. Gore-Lick might resign, but that wouldn't materially improve the objectivity of the Commission.

As long as Gorelick is on the commission, she is insulated for having to testify.
It does not matter how much she recuses herself, nor does it matter how team-oriented she seems to be. Because of what she knows, the prime objective is to keep her OFF the witness stand! And the only way to ensure this is by placing her on the other side of the table.
To: Arkinsaw
Guess what? Whenever someone is "quietly asked to resign" it's the under the table way of getting someone outted...She refuses and then it hits the news she's toast and her job as FannieMae CEO goes up for grabs! The Clintons may try to pull the strings but they're not in power and it's time to reveal the TRUTH!
To: nuconvert
Call her as a witness.

Just more proof that GoreLICKER is nothing but a self-serving classless CLintonista Democrap Hack B*tch, whose only goal is to protect Huggy Bubba and the Clinton gang from any blame. My shoebottoms have more morals and class than this worthless piece of excrement. Come on... tell us what you really think!

Whatever the commission finally comes up with will be flawed in any case.According to their charter any report will have to be unamimous. What a waste of time.
To: LS
She won't resign. She learned from clinton, the judicial filibusters, dodd, etc. that obstruction of justice is the dems policy. That being said, it would be fun if kean made her testify so she could perjure herself--another dem policy.

Oh boy.
Even Clinton staffers know the truth
But according to former Clinton staffers, it's doubtful Gorelick will budge. "She's on that commission for a reason, and it isn't because of her brilliant legal mind," says a former DNC and Clinton White House staffer. "She's there to make sure Bush and his team look as bad as possible and to protect the Clintons and Reno."
To: LS
If Gorelick doesn't step aside, the report of the Committee with be tainted even moreso that it already is.
Gorelick is there for a specific purpose--to protect herself due to her tenure at Deputy AG and to protect the Clintons.
The Committee is already close to being nothing more than a partisan farce.

She'll likely last longer than Air America.LOL! Speaking of talk radio...some woman called KTSA yesterday and told the call screener to "Tell that un-neutered chihuahua to leave Gorelick alone!" (she was talking about Trey Ware). Had to be a Dem, they are the only ones that throw hit-and-run insults rather than debate an issue rationally. It was hilarious!
