Call on Jamie S. Gorelick to Resign from the 9-11 Commission
From the AP:
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner called on Jamie Gorelick to resign from the Sept. 11 commission Wednesday, citing a memo she wrote as a deputy attorney general on separating counterintelligence from criminal investigations. "Scrutiny of this policy lies at the heart of the commission's work," said Sensenbrenner, R-Wis. "Ms. Gorelick has an inherent conflict of interest as the author of this memo and as a government official at the center of the events in questions."
On Tuesday, Attorney General John Ashcroft released the declassified 1995 memo from Gorelick containing instructions that "more clearly separate" counterintelligence from criminal investigations. He said the "wall" between counterintelligence and criminal investigations was a key impediment to terrorism probes before the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Landmark Legal Foundation, a conservative law firm, also has called on Gorelick to step down, citing the memo.
A phone message left with the Sept. 11 commission was not immediately returned Wednesday.
I ask you to send the following email -- or your own -- asking Ms. Gorelick to do the right thing and step down. Please flood the commission with these emails.
Send the email to the following address: info@9-11Commission.gov; info@9-11Commission.gov
You may also phone the commission here:
Tel: (202) 331-4060
Fax: (202) 296-5545
Sample email is as follows:
Subject: Do the Right Thing -- Resign
Dear Ms. Gorelick,
Please do the right thing and step down from the 9/11 Commission.
In 1995, as Deputy Attorney General of the Clinton Administration, you drafted and signed a memo creating a wall between counterintelligence and criminal investigation, a key impediment to terrorism probes before the Sept. 11 attacks. As House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Sensenbrenner averred, "[s]crutiny of this policy lies at the heart of the commission's work."
This presents a severe and impermissible conflict of interest. There is "an inherent conflict of interest as [you are] the author of this memo and [are] a government official at the center of the events in questions."
Ms. Gorelick -- please do the right thing. If America is to believe that the 9/11 Commission is not merely a partisan sham aimed solely at damaging the Bush Administration, you must resign your position in light of this gross political conflict of interest.
I trust you will do the honorable thing and resign.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME, YOUR ADRRESS, ETC.

I am sending an email that will simply state the following:
Dear Ms. Gorelick,
Please resign your position on the 9/11 commission immediately. As the author of the memo, and a government employee, you have no business being on this commission.
The hearings before this commission have already been tainted with partisanship. Please do not taint them further and ultimately casting a dark shadow of doubt as to the real purpose of the commission and its hearings by remaining in your post on the commission as the author of the memo, a key piece of evidence.
Sincerely,
I will insert my name and address here

Kean says no and that's it's a ridiculous question. She is in his mind one of the hardest, most fine and less partisan members of the commission. I see he is a former governor of New Jersey, is he a RINO?

The letter I wrote - feel free to use it as you wish.
Ms. Gorelick,
After September 11, 2001, our nation was plunged into mourning the likes of which have never been felt before.
Once our period of grief, reflection and mourning passed, anger and determination set in for our military to go after those who committed and protected those guilty of the attacks and for our Government to prevent another attack on American soil.
The 9-11 commission was established as a bi-partisan, independent commission to investigate why the attacks took place.
Yesterday, America learned that you were the author of a previously classified memo detailing what measures the FBI and CIA could take in investigating terrorism. Your directives outlined memo was written when our country was systematically attacked by the same group that committed the atrocities of September 11.
Ms. Gorelick, you can no longer sit in judgment of those you now accuse of not doing enough to prevent September 11.
Many of the very people being questioned by the commission, those who have been put on the so called "hot seat", were following the very directives you established. These same people have said, from the beginning of the hearings, how this wall between the FBI and CIA prevented the agencies from communicating and led to the build up of terrorists on our soil. As the author of wall you are responsible.
It is now time for you to step down and prepare to testify, under oath, in public, to the very commission your presence is making a mockery of.
Do what is right for this country. You failed at that during the Clinton administration. You have one final chance to do it now.

At this point, what does it matter? She's just one commissioner and seemed to play nice with Dr. Rice. It's obvious there are some on the panel who are a fraud like Bob Kerry and Batista. If you don't axe them, what harm is it really for her to be there.

I sent an email. I asked for her to step down and to take the witness chair. I inquired as to why THE WALL was reinforced, i.e. to protect Clinton's criminal friends wherein there was intelligence on them. Specifically, MARC RICH's pardon. I said Gorelick was in the chain of command and in the loop and this MAY BE THE SMOKING GUN and is now evidentiary. I believe The Wall was a mechanism to protect Clinton's criminal cronies. Call me crazy but that whole administration was ego-centric. Depts. were raided but intel, military and other agencies were gutted because that junk wasn't important to Bubba. Well, that's not my exact words but I believe it has to do with his criminal pals.

Just sent this email....
Members of the 9/11 Commision:
The revelation that Commission member Jamie Gorelick was the author of a policy that erected a wall between counter-terrorism and criminal investigations is shocking. There is NO EARTHLY WAY that she can sit on the commission any longer. It is a CLEAR conflict of interest.
In fact, Ms Gorelick should face some VERY tough questioning for her role in creating these barriers that hindered investigations on terrorism.
If Ms. Gorelick continues to serve on the 9/11 commission, the only conclusion that can be reached is that this is a completely partison commission with no credibility.
Sirs, the choice is up to you.
Sincerely,
Bryan Alexander, an American citizen and voter.

Brytani: Your email to Gorelick could be modified into a fine 'letter to the editor'.
I urge that we all send letters to newpaper editors explaining why we feel Gorelick must resign & testify.
It's a good way to spread the word!

Kean defended her today. He doesn't care what the people think. Power defending power, as usual, regardless of party or ideology. This whole thing is crap. The only positive is that even the sheeple are beginning to catch on.

Here's mine:
Members of the 9-11 Commission:
The 911 Commission was established as a NON-Partisan commission to investigate the events that lead up to terrorist attacks on September 11th and what can be done to prevent further terrorist attacks.
The revelation the Commissioner Gorelick authored the policy that established the wall between counter-terrorism and criminal investigations clearly places her in a position of conflict of interest. Her resignation/removal should be immediate. She should be questioned as to her role and responsibilities in creating a climate that did not prevent terrorist attacks.
As citizens of this great country, it IS* all of our business, Mr Keane. Since you obviously have lost the direction of non-partisanship you can only serve this nation by resigning your position. You have lost your credibility....and the entire commission is rapidly following.
*I know the meaning of the word...Do you?
